SearchBlizzard: If Cameron asked we would sign

With the "WarCraft" movie in the planning, Blizzard tells MTV Multiplayer that they would do a "StarCraft" movie should James Cameron come up and ask them.
Blizzard have for long been widely known for their top tier cinematics team, and many fans have been wanting them to take StarCraft to the movies. Rob Pardo, the EVP of Game Design at Blizzard says that they have always wanted to go this route with its franchises, but that they need to find the right production team to do so.
- "We've always had an interest in seeing our stuff on film or TV. It's just tricky to find the right partners. We probably could have made a 'StarCraft' movie or something on TV years and years ago, but it's really important to us that we find creative people that are really talented but also really excited about our properties. That's always been the challenge for us," says Pardo. "I think if Jim Cameron came to us tomorrow and said, 'You want to make a 'StarCraft' movie?' we'd probably sign that."
Back in 2006, Blizzard announced that the movie "WarCraft" was in the planning, working with Legendary Pictures set to make a live-actino movie set in the WarCraft universe. With Sam Raimi set to direct the film, the movie is still in story-development mode. Further emphasizing on having a good team to lead the project, Pardo says the WarCraft movie found just that.
- "That's why we did the 'WoW' movie. We were really excited about being involved with Legendary Pictures, who we thought had a really good track record with these sorts of movies that would make sense for our franchises," says Pardo.

| If the maker of Avatar makes a Starcraft movie we're certainly going to end up with a gigantic turd. Of course, since most of the very popular movies suck, there is no doubt being a turd will not stop it from being very popular. |

| you know that video game movies suck balls, and that blockbuster movies like transformers suck even more, so making it with all flashy effects and bla bla bla, will probably turn into the 2 of those mentioned above. but still if its people like cameron or Nolan, that cares for the actual story then it could become something big and cool. |

Maybe one of the Americans on here can explain it :) A StarCraft movie would be sweet, as long as its not a b-grade. | The plot of Avatar is strikingly similar to Pocahontas, so if you enjoyed Avatar's storyline, chances are you also loved Pocahontas. Still, great special effects. :) |
| Also, #43, as far as I know, Jim isn't short for James, unlike Rob and Robert. The quote in question was also transcribed word-for-word from the MTV source, which means that the original speaker made the error in calling James Cameron Jim Cameron. However, the notation (sic) is generally used after an original quote containing an error, to show that there is no a mistake in transcription but rather that it was meant that way. I hope this provides some clarification. :) |
