Time limited version of Starcraft 2 offered in Latin America

Posted by "Puremiss" 1 year ago
Blizzard, in an official press release has announced a new pricing option available in Latin/South America where people can "test drive" the game for an equivalent of about $29.00USD for 6 months.

One of our design goals for StarCraft II was to make it accessible to a wide range of players, from novices to veterans, ... The same applies to our pricing options - want to make sure our players have sufficient flexibility to enjoy the game according to their own preferences and styles of play." - Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment.

Blizzard aims to provide less "hardcore" or newer Starcraft gamers a chance to get an idea of the gameplay, for about half the price. This 6 month "subscription" to Starcraft 2 is currently only available to Latin/South America. Pricing is roughly as follows: Mexico: $299 MXN, Argentina: $119 ARS, Chile: $13,900 CLP.

Though for most Starcraft 2 gamers out there already enjoying the beta, the best deal would easily still be the $59.99USD full version of the game.

Ummm you can always upgrade your SC2 account and pay the remaining money for unlimited access. No big deal. This is for people who are like not sure if they want to keep playing Starcraft 2 after a while. That way Blizzard doesn't have to deal with any refund shit complain like people always do.

"I played full prize but don't want to play this game anymore. Can I have my money back?" Stuff like that is what Blizzard wants to avoid.

this is obviously for StarCraft New Players only, and for people with medium-low resources, test it - buy it / not to buy it, I have doubts if this comercial strategy would give good results, anyway, is another option.

Well for the people who doesn´t have a lot of info from latin america, this is good for people who really doesn´t have a very good economy, here in Mexico a lot of gamers are really eager to buy the complete but a lot more they don´t have enough money to do it, prbably this will help a lot of people here in LAbut we will see.

If they want to buy the game after the "test drive" do they have to pay 30$ or do they still have to pay the full 60$?

omg ..
its not the blizzard i used to know ..
.. allready sayed it in other threads ..
i allready have enough of sc2 tho its not relased yet .. blizz blew it

Hey...they forgot us...brazilians, jesus crist, we have the best e-sport scene in latin america; i mean, CS - mibr team, dota (that i really hate) and we had a great Wc3 scene with pato and misty(2005-2007). C´mon!!
About the economy issue, the mexican guy is right, fresh pc games (or playstation 3) r too expensive here that´s why we have so much piracy( unfortunatly) and it´s a nice thing made by Blizzard GJ.

^ How does it suck for Latin America if they can always upgrade their account for unlimited access or buy the full game? Again no big deal if you read the whole thing.

"Quienes prefieran tener acceso ilimitado a la campaña para un jugador y al multijugador de StarCraft II por medio de Battle.net, podrán comprar y descargar una versión ilimitada del juego a través de Blizzard Entertainment por un precio similar al de Estados Unidos de $59.99 USD."

Those who prefer having unlimited access to the single player campaign and multiplayer for Starcraft 2 on battle.net can buy a version with unlimited access to the game through Blizzard Entertainment for a similar price as the US ($59.99)
