SangHo eliminates IdrA in MSL qualifiers

Posted by Patrik "Raistlin" Hellstrand 2 years ago
Greg "IdrA" Fields, only foreigner playing for a progaming team in Korea, failed to advance to the next round of the MBCGame Starleague Survivor tournament.

Playing in the evening group, the American Terran was placed against eSTRO team member SangHo, whose Protoss play proved too much for the aspiring foreign progamer.

From IdrA's twitter feed we find out SangHo 'double nexused' both games which he predicted.

SangHo went on to defeat the legendary BoxeR in the semi final, but lost to Samsung KHAN Zerg Chavi who featured in two games in fall's ShinHan Bank Proleague.

Chavi, along with the other 19 players who qualified today, will move on to the next phase of the MSL Survivor tournament where 16 players from last season will join in together with the best KeSPA-ranked player from each team.

IdrA will have a go in the Korean Air OnGameNet Starleague offline preliminaries tomorrow going up against MBCGame Hero's Zerg player HyuN.

SangHo is an ok korean player. Idra should lose to him, would be nice if he would have won though.

Call me noob (well, i am in terms of SC ^^), but why in gods name are they playing on CRTs? I mean, who builds these things nowadays? Reactiontimes of TFTs are down to 1-2ms, so no issues with bluring and even in terms on contrast and brightness they can keep up with a CRT. On the other hand... who ever was forced to use a CRT after living with a TFT will know the pain staring at this thing for hours.

Is there some specific reason or are they just saving money?

#16 and #18 are right ...

i just saw the sAviOr game and i was horrified ... i thought the last game vs BeSt was is worst (irony) game, but this one against PuMa ... totally devastating, i feel so sad

i also feel a bit bad about IdrA, i dont like him, but would love to see a foreigner advancing to the next stage of such a gr8 league

#15

Even with LCD/TFT down to 1-2ms reaction time (in theory), its still not the 0.00ms time for CRTs, I guess it would matter to uh... jaedong=?
I guess they don't want to replace something that works perfectly fine.

Anyway I never had a problem with my CRT, stared at it 12hours a day for most of my youth :D.
However they're not very handy to carry around :(

CRTs are far superior in FPS games. Dunno how it matters in StarCraft though. :P And how it is an epic fail? SangHo defeats players like Mind, Light, forGG...

#31 CoL_Drake 2 years ago
@15 crt > tft xD

#32 spidyaj 2 years ago
I also dont think this is a fail. These tourneys have like the best players in the world. Its awesome he gets to play against them. Everyone knows Idra isn't anywhere close to the top of the Korean food chain, the fact is a lot of pros aren't.

#33 rwong48 2 years ago
#15: #29 has it right

this is a textbook argument. the answers:
1) advertised response times tend to be gray-to-gray (minimum) and only get higher. CRTs have 0.000 etc.
2) LCDs do not display 640x480 properly (non-native resolution)
3) CRTs operate at higher refresh rates. I don't know which one they use but I'd expect at least 85/100 Hz. I use 120/140 Hz depending on which monitor I'm using.

lol the smirk on idra's face is like "I got this niggah ez" but then loss :D anyways i always knew he wouldnt get anywhere in korea besides the pro training. But its still good that he went because it got him really strong and he wins all foriegner leagues now :)

#44 sexyslash 2 years ago
again.... VOD?
1
#45 gamemirage 2 years ago
wow ok Get.LiquiD that's so great why?

why CRT? because they're faster to play on.

if Artosis said backho was worst pro protoss, then that is fail because backho owns and TheRock is trash. =)

sangho is rly good at pvt!

i want to see the vods idra vs sangho:) is this possible?
2
#48 Kompicek 2 years ago
everybody here just talks bullshit and know nothing about the korean scene... sangho has already beat players like kal, jaedong, stork, mind, best, violet..
he is the best protoss of estro and is regularly playing in proleague with about 50% win ratio..
so what kind of fail is this? how can somebody beat and A team progamer with only two years of practicing in korea? How long do you think they were practicing at this rate?
