Mondragon Promised Eriador Infested Terrans

Posted by Lasse "Get.Enron" Engen 2 years ago
- And Infested Terrans he got. The fourth game of the series between Mondragon and Shaman was an amazing TvZ on Outsider that had it all. Perfectly placed plagues and swarm, lurkers and guardians, battle cruisers and infested terrans.

The series between Shaman and Mondragon turned out to be a real thrill.
The first game Mondragon spawned at the top left corner against Shaman in the bottom left at Tornado.
The game didn't last for very long as Shaman made double barracks and sent four early marines to the expansion of Mondi, who didn't have his sunken colony ready. With some microing the marines did some real damange, and the reinforcements eventually took care of the rest making Mondragon type out. GosuGamers asked Mondragon what happened in the first game:
- " well, I totally knew what was gonna come, but I just thought I would have a few extra seconds and I wanted to exploit them and get sunken in the last second, but since the distance between his and my main base was possibly the shortest one on the map, I miscalculated the timing".

The second game with Mondragon spawning at bottom left, and Shaman at the top left on Andromeda turned out differently however. Shaman made it crystal clear that this would be a short game by making his barracks at a unit supply of six, and was aiming for an early win by bunker rushing Mondragon. The German did however scout him very early, and knew what was coming, and countered it well with zerglings picking off some marines, and taking out the bunker that contained only two marines.
With zergling speed Mondi could quickly counter Shaman and surrounds his marines and killing them all, making Shaman type gg.

The third game was played on Destination, Shaman spawned at the bottom, and Mondragon on the top of the map. The game started out rather weird, Shaman seemed to be doing some sort of early rush sending a bunch of SCVs heading for Mondragon's base. But just before they reached the middle of the map he pulled them back and the game went on without any rush.
Mondragon did some good muta harassment to Shaman, taking out several marines and turrets, and some SCVs and medics as well. When Mondi had his lurkers ready he sent two of them behind Shaman's natural, preventing him from mining as he had no siege upgrade. After a little while, he sent some marines to kill the lurkers, but lost six of them in the fight.
At the same time this happened Mondi built up a nice map control and contained the middle.
Shaman never really got back in the game, he tried to kill one of Mondi's expansions, but by a very well performed flanking, Mondragon killed the army taking nearly no damage. The game ended with a zergling/lurker push with swarm, at the same time Mondragon was getting guardians ready.

The amazing fourth game is one to be remembered for a long time. Mondragon starts out at 9'O clock and Shaman at 1'O clock on Outsider. Shaman starts out making double barracks again, while Mondragon made a three hatchery build with the third hatchery inside his main.
I promised Eriador infested terrans, and I had to keep my promise
- Mondragon

- "I wasn't very focused there and made my third hatch in my main, which wasn't really planned out. But as I had my defilers easily in time I knew I would win the game, and since I promised Eriador to make some infested terrans for him I had to keep my promise".

The game went on to be a really good game with Mondragon pushing Shaman constantly with lings, lurkers and swarm. After a while he also brought a few guardians to harass Shaman's natural expansion, but it didn't do much. The game could've gone either way at certain points, even though Mondragon pulled off incredible plagues time after time, Shaman still managed to survive. Shaman had an expansion hidden in the bottom right corner for a long time, and got a lot of resources from there, as Mondragon started to run low on minerals when he started making ultralisks. The game was fantastic in every way, vessels picking off many defilers, followed by scourges killing them, and a constant use of plagues. Add to that Mondragon's somewhat effective use of infested terrans and Shaman's battle cruisers, made this game exceptionally good.
Shaman pulled through some good defending using firebats to counter the lurkers under the swarm, but eventually Mondragon got his expansion at the bottom right after being harassed by a few siege tanks killing all of Mondi's drones at one of the expansions.
The game ended in a favor for Mondragon who kept his promise to Eriador, and killed the battle cruisers, making Shaman type himself out of the Teamliquid Starleague 2.

- "it feels great, it was a nice series, and especially the last game, it was a pleasure".
Mondragon meets BRAT_OK in the round of 16.
- "Brat_OK is definitely a better Terran than Shaman and it will very tough and I don't see myself in a good position since my ZvT is really bad".

I wouldn't say so #2.

The first game was a perfectly executed 2rax rush by shaman. He tried a 6 rax in second game which didn't work due to mondi scouting very fast with drone. Third game, shaman sent all of his scv halfway across the map to call them back later, which gave him a big disadvantage. And last game was pretty fun, mondi had a slight advantage almost all of the time but shaman did some pretty nice moves, you can see infested terrans and battleships in it.

Game 1 til 3 weren't pretty spetacular.
Timing wins, standart pressure games and a little Mondi-Zerg-play.

Game 4 was awesome, although both made their fault , in the end it was the best game of the day and shaman is nice for being so mannerd : D

With all respect...

But Shaman is too weak in TvZ. He just won weak Inctontrol who played lurkers 2 times vs 2 rax - fast exp.

Last game is fun. Yep. =)

But better to make interview or news about Strelok vs Kabal.

Damn, shaman used to be T user, now the only remaining MU,and the weakest where he plays T, is TvZ. that's just sad.
