Dreamhack Winter 2009: Prizes

Posted by Lasse "Get.Enron" Engen 2 years ago

Dreamhack, the world's largest LAN, is not far away, and there will be a DotA and a Starcraft: Brood War tournament this time as well. The prizes were just announced, with a prizepool on approximately $7.000 for each of them.

DreamHack Winter 2009 will be held the 26th - 29th of November, and the prizepools were recently announced. With a purse of $7000 for each DotA and Starcraft in cash and products, known faces might find it interesting to attend the event this time as well, just like the DreamHack Summer 2009 success with some of the best European Starcraft players; ret, Dreiven and Dimaga, to name a few. However, there won't be any online qualifications for Starcraft, so we'll see how it turns out.
Unfortunately there won't be a Warcraft 3 tournament due lack of interest and contestants in recent events.

But one thing's certain, GosuGamers will be there bringing you live coverage, exclusive high quality videos, interviews, and do everything we can to make it as good show as it gets. We'll be back with more - stay tuned.

#17 Google: "
1 US-dollar = 6,98729012 svenska kronor(SEK)"

50000/6,98729012=7155,849999~$

Questions?

#2 You got no clue how important is for some Proplayers/teams. For example Loda

#18: or even easier, which is what I did when I did my calculations for this post:

Google: 50000 SEK in USD
= $7 100

#21 maybe true, but it doesn't really matter in this case, the prizepool for CS is the same as Starcraft and DotA at DreamHack this time.

#23 Is it really? CS has always attracted the most and skilled people in Sweden. Last year teams like SK and mTw played for 1st prize and I don't think they'll drop it as low as dotas prizepool.

#23 you've misunderstod it CS:Source got the same prizepool as dota and that is not even close to how big cs 1.6 is. 1.6 _IS_ going to have a bigger prizepool i'm pretty sure of. Atleast that's what i've found.

#25 agree. They haven't released any info of how big the prize purse of 1.6 will be. Source though, has much lower prizes than 1.6.
