Proleague has come to Foreign-Town - The Collegiate Starleague is back

Some readers will remember the Collegiate Starleague, CSL, from last spring - a foreign amateur league in Starcraft modeled on the Korean Proleague but applied to the format of American college sports. What started as a grudge match between Princeton and MIT in late November of 2008 quickly grew to an impressively large movement where more than 25 colleges partook in the battle for fame and SC-glory. Eventually, Berkeley stood against UTexas and over a 1,000 unique viewers followed the action and the Youtube-videos have been watched well over 10,000 times ever since. It was a good event, unique in the history of foreign Starcraft, and now it's time for season 2. First, however, there's a star-studded All Star Show Match - Proleague-style.

On the 5th of September 2009, i.e. on Saturday, at 8PM EST it all kicks off. The eight best players from last season, of which you will recognize some names, are forming two teams who will battle through a tough best-of-five. It will be fun, possibly epic and most importantly broadcast live - further enhanced by the commentator duo of CholeraSC & Day[9], bringing union between SC2GG and Teamliquid for this event.

It will be well worth watching, if not the raw skill but for the hilarity, as the game linked to below from last season's final will indicate. Stay tuned for more info, here are the match-ups:

joLin (Z) v Tifa (P) - Ride of the Valkyries
clazziquai (T) v Freaky (Z) - Athena II
gt.roo (P) v Nesh (T) - Shades of Twilight
ToT)yosh( (T) v StRyKeR (Z) God's Garden
ACE: Outsider

A very enjoyable game : CSL Finals 3rd Set, 2v2 Berkeley vs UTexas

This will be the Live Stream

#4 They are American college students, who during the first season of the CSL proved themselves to be top level amateurs. Click the link to Teamliquid to read some of their trash talk and interviews

#4 did you even read this news or just took a look at players? Seems like second option, so why do you even bother commenting without understanding news -.-"

This is "the Collegiate Starleague, CSL, from last spring - a foreign amateur league in Starcraft modeled on the Korean Proleague but applied to the format of American college sports"

There were a few international colleges who partook in the CSL last year in a show match format. Among them were Tsinghua University from Beijing, KTH / Royal Institute of Technology / Kungliga Tekniska Högskolan from Sweden. They lost ;/

Yes, he was - and has been disqualified since. I do not yet know who has replaced him. When the news reach me, I'll post all the updates here first
