Garimto Comeback in Starcraft II

Posted by Lasse "Get.Enron" Engen 2 years ago

The one with the better insight of the game has the upper hand when a game is first revealed, that's why I'm returning as a progamer when Starcraft II is released - Garimto

Facing Bright in the Starcraft II exhibition game at the e-Stars Seoul 2009 made, the former progamer and mastermind of Protoss, Garimto, decide to return as a progamer when Wings of Liberty launches. Kim "Garimto" Dong-Soo, winner of the Ongamenet Starleague twice, speaks up in a very interesting interview at Fomos.kr after the exhibition games.

Reading your opponent is even more important than in the original Starcraft, and that is what makes Starcraft II so beautiful

After playing the game, he explains that the game is more fast-paced than Starcraft, and that the decision making is much more crucial now than ever. You can now select all your larvas at once, the construction time for buildings is much faster and you can mass-select units. All of these factors maybe makes things a little easier, but don't forget it's easier for your opponent as well, so there's a lot of things to be done much faster than the prequel. Also, according to Garimto, every move has to be carefully thought through, or else you might lose the game. What units you decide to warp-in with Protoss could be even more important than macroing.

The older players did better when Starcraft first came out, because the fast reaction of the younger players doesn't help out much when you don't have a proper insight of the game. That's how Boxer became so successful making up his own strategies that no one had thought of before, and that's how Garimto has an equal chance to get good at the game as others.

If I ever get to play on stage in the future, I will do my best to always put on my best performance,

in the name of Garimto

We'll wish him the best of luck in the future, and hopefully we'll see Kim Dong-Soo succeeding once again!

This is truly Anything-Can-Happen-Thursday, excellent news draped in velvet with gold nuggets on top - Garimto is coming back, and that is truly great. I'm such a crazed fanboy right now, but I don't care - this bodes very very well for Starcraft 2. GG!

sc2 aint slow. But u need a really good computer for it. if anyoe of you guys have played red alert 3 i'm sure sc2 will have the same speed as it. But it requires a duo core and a good graphic card like geforce 8600 or better or else it will be laggy.

#10 you kinda missed the point, it will be faster than original starcraft, not slower :P

#13 That's not a good computer these days really, you'll get a computer like that for $400 or less.

I got this feeling, Garimto is a total loser in real life, he could only "try" to achieve something in this cyber world. That's why he is going to return to SCII as a progamer. And he will not disappoint most of us, he will fail.

I think the only thing he has done after his initially two wins of OSL 8 years ago was being a commentator right? And most people did not like his commentating.

My thoughts are that Ret or Skew will smash Garimito's dream, and his "insight" hes way too out of practice, my opinion: he'll get destroyed for sure the first year it comes out, not to mention all the pros who are 2x better than he ever was that he is competing against. You might say hey ryu what about Grrr, and I will say its different because hes just plain good, and sexy also. BTW these arn't facts im just extremely biased :D.

#22 these are YOUR thoughts? you mean artosis/tasteless's thoughts? >_<

I probably played this game as long as anyone, I did not state anything artosis or tastless said about him, I actually seen how grrr played so no sir you assumption is wrong. 1 thing I did take from them, is that grr is coming to sc2, which I was happy about, but I couldn't quite catch the name he was saying.

garimto is an idiot. He won't succeed at sc2 if he thinks he can win with inferior mechanics. Todays younger gamers are extremely good at reading each other and that he thinks he's superior without proving it is insulting to any starcraft pro-gamer of this generation.
