Make a run for it!
Created 4th May 2010 10:23 (Updated: 4th May 2010 18:11)

For the last 8-9 months I have suddenly found myself in a run for a better life, facing everything that situations can throw at me. I have left behind the overwhelming need for approval, becoming aware of the fact that approval takes every bit of the "real" me, and substitutes it with a social mask. I learned that living in past memories or future fantasies takes away the most powerfull moment. "Now and here".

I learned that high expectations produce nothing but great desilusion, running away from bad things produces nothing but stronger bad things that persist as you try to chase them away.

The best term that any person can learn is called "Acceptance". Acceptance and perseverence are the only 2 things that give you tremendous boost for trying again to accomplish goals that the previous ways to make them real had no success.

Baby steps and mercy and support for yourself. Someone once said that you are the only person that trully cares about you. Even if the others don't wish that you fail, they at least exect it. You have to live for yourself and be a pillar of strenght for your own good. Never expect good things to come from others, but make it real for yourself, let skills grow and become an extent of your personality, something that sheds light around and dissipates the darkness created by frustrations, fears, anger and guilt. Accept each of them as they are, and by fully accepting them they begin tp lose power over you. "What you resist persists, what you accept, you gain power to use".

Imagine yourself to your fullest potential, as someone who realises that the resources they have inside are far more great that any challenge that you can face. You are a sword and your shield is your own mindset. Everything that comes at you is just a target that will be anihillated. Always keep in mind that a man who KNOWS AND IS ABSOLUTELY SURE that he can FORGE his own destiny is a man who will never tremble in fear, no matter how hard something might look like. Someone who will lean on others will always be one's humble servant, and expect nothing more but bits and crumbs.

Whenerver you feel down remember that you have the capabilities of pulling yourself out of the gutter by the sole power of thought. Always keep yout head high and when shit is thrown at you ask for more.

Guestbook

I realised that I've been using a similar approach even if only subconsciously. The books were great and I was surprised at how deep they go in terms of observation and analysis. They really helped me in my pursuit for self-knowledge. Socrates' "know thyself" describes my personal philosophy and the realm of psychology can provide you with the answers to a lot of fundamental questions, but only if you're not afraid to search that deep. Thanks a lot! Are there any good books on developmental psychology? I found myself researching it, because it seems very interesting.

Sorry for the late reply dude, but I noticed the guestbook entry you made when another guy wrote me a message (it wasn't flashing and I rarely check my profile).

I started off with James Tad's "Secret of creating your future", but it's not going too well, the reading I mean. I've got problems reading off the screen, because after like 1-2 hours my eyes are hurting. I also got tons of projects at work and I still have to keep a balance between work/free time. I'd rather wait for the paper version of the book to arrive since I already purchased it, but so far, it's been a really good read.
