Namikaze

1. Time and Light Speed

Leaving all the cool stuff we see in movies, do you really think time travel is possible? And don't start the E=mc2 explanations because they make no sense if you are not capable of expressing it in plain words.

For example, they keep saying that if you run faster than light, you time-travel. How is that possible? Light does not define time, it is just photons that help us see. If you run almost as fast as light speed, time does not really slow down, you just "see" things moving slower because the "frames per second" the human eye catches lower as well. And if you run at exactly light speed, time does not freeze, you just constantly see the same light beam by travelling next to it. And if you run faster than light, time does not go backwards, you just outrun light beams and see stuff as they were before. The moment you stop, you are still in the present.

In this regard, light is just the film tape of a movie. Static images roll by our eyes in such a speed that gives us the impression of movement. Yet if we could run as fast as the film tape in a straight line, we would see the static images and no motion at all. This does not mean that the film stopped moving. Thus whatever you may think of light, it does NOT define time. Just our perception of it.

So what is light if not the definition of time? Simple, it is just the maximum speed with which we can perceive the passing of time. Our eyes can’t perceive anything faster than it, and thus if there can be particles than can outrun light, then we won’t be able to see them anyway. In the same logic, these particles don’t really travel in time because they outrun light.

2. Past and Future

Then there is this notion that time increases in proportions. That the past increases as time goes by and that it is "stored" somewhere, where you can access it somehow and even alter it. Well, in this regard, it is like a line of bricks. Each moment, a brick is created next to another brick. If you know how, you can return to a previous created brick. Yet, the way I see it there is no more than one brick. Each moment the universe changes shape. The shape it was a moment ago no longer exists. It was recycled into the next moment and so on. So, there is no line of bricks. Just one that is smashed and recreated anew. With this simple thought, I say time travel is not possible because time is not linear. Time is a dot, a zero-dimensional ever-shifting present. And since there is no past to go back to, thus time travel is not possible.

What I am getting at here is practically that there is no existing past. The past does not exist somewhere; it is a previous shape of the current present. Our memories of the past are not proof of its existence either, but rather of its passing. Just like memories, photographs are not “stored time”. Looking at the photograph of a building from 150 years ago, you just see something as it was. By no means does it mean that it still is. It will definitely have been demolished or remade many times since then, and the photograph is just the proof of it existing status at one fixed point in time. That point in time is NOT stored on the photograph. It is just the result of reflecting light on a light-sensitive piece of paper. The photograph itself is NOT part of the past, even if it is 150 years old. It exists NOW and not in the past.

3. Time Paradoxes and the 10 Dimensions

The biggest problem with time travel in a linear time model are of course the typical time paradoxes. If you change the past then how did you know the difference in the present to still need to go back? If you kill your father then how were you born to go back? And so on. The easiest way to ask this is to wonder the following: If everything is cause and effect, then how can the effect take place before the cause which resulted to it?

The latest trend is that there are different dimensions and alternative universes, so every time you change something; a completely different timeline is formed that doesn’t affect your own. That still contradicts the notion of “matter can’t be created out of nowhere”. Yet with this sort of model, every time you go back in time and create an alternative reality, you practically bring into existence matter equal to a universe. Furthermore, just you going back in time, materializes extra matter with your body in that universe, which again contradicts the above notion. Such things are still not allowing time travel EVEN in a linear model.

Modern theories tend to explain all that with a 10 dimensional mode.

As before, this model assumes that time is linear, a thing which I disagree with. To me this fancy explanation is nothing but guidelines for writing good science fiction regarding time travel (of which I don’t believe is possible). It must also be noted that even in fiction, there are few to none works which manage not to make a blunder of their own in-laws, even when they are following the formula. This alone proves that even the fundamentals of this model are yet to be perceived properly, much less the ability to see past them and moving to the Zero Dimensional model.

4. The Dark Age duality

The thing which eventually made me turn away from all current famous theories regarding time is their stuck-to-the-dark age-logic. In medieval times, as well as in most undeveloped civilizations the world is perceived as a duality. Meaning, everything is separated into 2 opposing forces, the interaction of which is the result on our world. If you think about it most of our so-called advanced civilization is incapable to judge something outside of duality. Something can be either good or evil, white or black, lawful or chaotic, logical or emotional. This childish fairy tale way of perceiving things tends to expand even in so-called modern theories and thus we have the all famous string theories, M-theories, and a bunch of related theories that do the exact same thing. Their fundamental logic is that there is matter and anti-matter, there are positive particles and negative particles, there are clock-wise spins and counterclock-wise spins. THERE CAN’T BE ANYTHING ELSE! And this is why their theories are all based on a 1-dimensional model, which is basically two points in space connected with a line, and one point is the opposite of the other. The line is set and the direction of motion dictates which of the two points does a particle belongs to.

Well I find all that complete nonsense. They keep talking about anti-matter for example and yet there CAN’T be anti-matter because the moment it interact with normal matter they both cease to exist. Even lab-created anti-matter doesn’t have a life span of more than a few milliseconds. So how can something that can’t even exist for more than a fraction of a second is otherwise the stuff of which half of the universe is made up from? How can we even be talking about positive and negative from the moment that their interaction is negating one another? They can’t coexist because they would self-destroy themselves and yet here they are trying to convince us with thousands of pages filled with weird symbols that civilization is still stuck at the dark age and everything in science is still defined with angels and demons. In this regard, all these theories ain’t better than the time people thought the Earth was flat and angels lived in the clouds.

Here is what I think. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS GOOD PARTICLES AND EVIL PARTICLES. There is no alternative “dark” universe, which is the exact opposites of our own and where everything there is the exact reverse of what happens in our own world. That is b-grade science fiction for low-tier entertainment.

5. The amount of energy

What actually happens in the universe in my mind is again based on zero-dimensional logic. There are not two opposite forces in the cosmos. There is only one (which I will simply call energy), which tends not to have homogenous field strength in all its parts. Some parts of the universe have more energy than others; and that is all the explanation you ever need to have. For example, we have stars and suns which produce light, but not everything in the universe emanates the same amount of light. Some actually don’t emanate at all (planets) while others suck it in (black holes). This does not mean we should view the cosmos in terms of lightness or darkness. There is only light (energy particles) which in some parts is more abundant than in others. So basically, although we have an opposite word for lightness that does not mean darkness is a different and opposing force. Darkness is simply the absence of light. It otherwise DOES NOT EXIST. The same thing can be said about a magnet. Although it has two poles and that separates magnetism in positive and negative, it is otherwise the same type of force moving towards the same direction and we do NOT have two sides that oppose each other. Thus the universe simply runs on one of a kind type of forces which tend to be weak in some parts and strong in others. This difference is what makes everything run around, like two bottles of water connecting and having flow from the bottle with the most water towards the bottle with less water.

6. History

Let’s make an example. If you read a history book, you don't really learn about what happened in the past. You only learn of what the writer THINKS of what happened in the past. In effect anything you observe, study, or talk about is just an impression that happens NOW. You never literally go back in time or learn something as it actually was. You just imagine how it was like, a thing that may be very different from what other people think, based on their different impressions and knowledge. Thus most of what we know of things that happened (and by default, anything we know has already passed) is not truth or facts. It is fiction! Thought itself is nothing but fiction, a mix of chemicals and electric charges that process images and other stimulations from external sources. We never think of something as it is but only as we perceive it with our senses. It is very easy to be fooled to think of it in an entirely different way than it really is. For example, for millennia people thought the Earth was flat. Their perception of the world made them think it is so and there were cases where they refused to accept scientific finds proving it otherwise.

The above example is meant to show that people tend to call reality anything that has to do with the past and affected in some way their lives in the present. If you come to think about it though, any fictional story is not that different. It creates an impression on you, even if it wasn’t with actual existing historical figures. Even if you read the expedition of Alexander the Great in Asia, it will still be fiction in effect, since you DON’T really go to the past, nor do you observe it as it actually happened. You are only reading about it in a book, or watching a movie about it, with many more agreeing about it. Thus it becomes real to you because it has the reassurance of others. The thing is, no book or movie ever manages to be 100% accurate. Many writers or directors make artistic changes or present events as they perceived them, thus they rarely to never are 100% correct.

7. Reality and Fiction

What people call reality is nothing but impressions that coincide with yours. In this regard, no historical event is more real than the simplest epic fantasy story. Everything regarding history and reality is in effect pure fiction and not more real that The Lord of the Rings. It is just that more people know and have the knowledge of a historical event than that of fiction, and may even claim that a historical event is what formed their current status in the present. Historical events tend to be far more excusable, as they create a chain of events, the results of which can be traced to today, while fiction usually never leaves behind any existing traces because it takes place in a non-existing world.

This does not mean that proof or the rule of the majority is a secured way to tell truth from a lie since each new addition to any science has to do with altering the perception of an issue which more regarded differently up to then. Just proving that the Earth is not flat began with a few people proving it is not. Furthermore, for millennia most of history wasn’t that different from mythology, and medicine was just fancy placebo.

There are even cases where a fictional story has such a huge impact on the population that it literally becomes real for many of them, even when they are actively aware it is fiction. The huge cultural effect movies like The Star Wars had on its fans, created a subculture which is in a great extend more real to them than most historical events. There is even a Star Wars religion, based on the philosophy of the Force, which although beginning as fiction is now more real than other religions the fans don’t believe in.

Speaking of which, religions are a fine example where a fictional past is real to its believers. Every religion is brimming with mythology and superstitions, and although they were meant to be symbolisms for the believer to understand something deep and complicating in simple terms, they also tend to become reality to them. The minds sees what the mind wants to see, thus mythology replaces history in many people’s minds. But as I said, this does not mean that their beliefs are lies because they are not based on history. The world being created in 7 days is as fictional as a documentary about the lives of dinosaurs and of X-Wings attacking the Death Star. All it matters is what the individual accepts as truth, with the optional reassurance of others around him.

8. Memories

In practice, it doesn’t really matter if we accept history as reality (since there is no objective reality). After all, the past does not exist to be any more lasting and real than the cheesiest fictional story. It is all just about memories we have of an event, how that affects our lives in the present, which in turn forms the future. And by future, I only refer the next moment that will replace this moment by deleting it. In effect, the future does not exist either. It is all a chain of actions are reactions, but as I said, since time is not linear but a dot, this does not happen in a line of events but rather in a sequence of events. The difference is that anything we do a moment ago no longer exists (because the past does not exist) yet its impression and effect on this current present (through memories) will affect the following moment. Thus although it is not “stored” in a form other than fiction, it is still important to occur anyway.

9. The Illusion of Motion

A rather big side effect of the Zero Dimensional Model of time is perceiving motion as an illusion. Meaning, since the only thing that exists in time is a moment that fluctuates, there is no actual motion ever taking place. It is only through our memories that we remember things were different before (which as I described above it is fictional since anything that is going on in our minds is not real). In effect nothing ever “moves” or even “changes” since a moment ago it simply did not exist and a moment later it will cease to exist. Basically, there is no duration in time and its passing is only theoretical and not something that ever actually takes place.

10. Purpose

One should not regard this model as pointless or vane. Just because no matter what we do is deleted a moment later from existence, it does not become pointless. It leaves an impression on the following moment which shapes it. So if someone manages to create a big enough impression that affects the lives of many in the way they live or perceive their world, then he becomes an impression himself. Thus, even though it feels meaningless to do anything at all if we believe it will be wasted after we die, in reality we can still exist as impressions in the minds of all those who remember us. We may not be remembered EXACTLY as we were and we may not be alive anymore to prove them wrong, but our effect on them is what will turn us into an idea or even an ideal. And those things are immortal as long as people believe in them and remember them. Thus, losing our lives, or our individuality, and being remembered as nothing but a simplistic caricature of our real selves is not really that important as the fact that we affected others with our actions and thus shaped future events, thus rendering our lives NOT meaningless.

11. The Meaning of Life

As for all those who are wondering about the meaning of life, most seem to think in reverse of how things really are. We do not exist “for” a purpose but “because” of a cause. Since everything is a cause and effect chain (that occurs in sequence and not in line) then things are because of things that were a moment ago. For what purpose? For forming things that will be in a moment later. And it is also a mistake to expect for this chain to end someday and everything will become a paradise or something. If the chain stops, everything ends. And since my time model does not prove if we can exist as spirits outside spacetime, then I do not fancy the idea of disappearing one day.

12. Evolution

So what is the meaning of life if it based on “because” and not on “for”? It definitely does not have a universal objective since it doesn’t really head somewhere specifically. Some may excuse the constant evolution of the species as a gradual improvement of a lifeform with the ulterior objective to reach perfection and become or find God. I do not believe in such a notion for the simple reason that evolution does not equal improvement. It is closer to adaptation in a hostile environment. Plants and animals evolve as means to better survive in their environments but that does not make them gradually superior; it only raises their chances of survival and adaptability. This process happens mostly through natural selection, where the least able to survive lifeforms perish, leaving behind only the most able to survive ones to create offsprings.

And again, this does not mean that a species becomes gradually more powerful this way, since most animals and plants can’t survive outside their very specific environment. An elephant can’t survive in the ocean in the same way a penguin can’t survive in the desert. Mankind appears to be the most evolved species for the sole reason it learns a lot faster and adapts quickly to almost every environment on this planet. In this case it wins because of brains and not because of brawns. This does not exactly make it superior because as we see everyday, any lifeform that can proliferate without natural enemies eventually overtakes the whole ecosystem and creates huge ecological disasters that usually end with its own extinction exactly because it depleted all food reserves. Any lifeform that is taking over its environment and multiplies uncontrollably is NOT superior. It is bound to extinct.

13. Destiny

So according to the above notions, is there such a thing as destiny? Is our future foretold from the moment we are born? Is what I wrote in this text fatalistically meant to be written eons before my birth and are you fatalistically reading it because it was your destiny to do so before you even existed? If you follow my theory, then there can be only one possible answer. NO! The future does not exist so how can your life be foretold before it even happens? Furthermore, just because everything moves in a cause and effect manner, it doesn’t mean that our actions are fixed either. Our decisions are indeed affected by what others say and do, or from whatever happened a moment ago. It does not mean our next action can be mechanically calculated this way, since most people choose based on sudden whims and not after careful examination of a said situation. Meaning, most of us are completely chaotic and unpredictable to be able to predict future moves, much less the moves of an entire society or even a planet.

At the same time, history and politics were always controlled by a handful of powerful individuals. They think and dictate and most of the times the rest of the population either blindly follows them or protests and gets wiped out by them. It may seem this way that the future of our civilization is in the hands of the political leaders and presidents of financial organizations and shady trusts. In a way, they decide what happens next and have the power and money to make it happen no matter if the rest protest. It still does not mean they have complete control over us, much less foretell the future so to claim there is such a thing as destiny. They usually get what they want but not exactly as they want it all the time. Thus again destiny does not exist.

It is ironic how the less educated/smart/advanced a society is, the harder it is to be able to plan and organize anything, thus it becomes impossible to predict anything about it. In the contrary, educated/smart/advanced people are a lot easier to plan ahead and they are far easier to predict future events. This is what in effect makes smart people a lot easier to be “outsmarted” because they follow a pattern, while the uncivilized will be too chaotic to predict how they will react to something.

14. Astrology

As for all of you out there who believe in horoscopes and run to seers to tell you your future with crystal balls, tarot cards, and summon ghosts or pull a rabbit out of a hat… YOU FAKIN IDIOTS! They are just telling you what you want to hear and you make it appear they are right by providing explanations to their vague remarks. They are milking you dry with false hopes and you adore them for that. You lack self confidence and seek someone else to control your lives, to tell you what to do and in general to let yourselves be exploited because you are pussies who can’t take initiative and then accept responsibility for any possible mistakes. You are pitiful drones and you deserve to remain bottom rank goons to manipulating fancy talkers all your lives. How can you possibly believe that your fate is written in the dimming light from a star 5.000 light years away? A common lighter provides more light than it, a common cell phone bathes you in a thousand fold more radiation than it, a random woman slapping you has more affect in your life than a dot in the sky. GET REAL!

15. Free Will

And now that I explained how destiny does not exist, let me talk about the other side of the spectrum. We don’t have free will either. Or to better say, not 100% free will. For most is around 10% since they are not “really” freely deciding most of the things they do. Most of our future actions are planned ahead by what happened so far in our lives, so in a sense we simply react more than act based on the simple action-reaction analogy. Thus anything we do is not “free” because it must be related to whatever we were doing a moment ago. We can’t randomly use sentences when we talk; there has to be a stream of thought behind it. We can’t play tennis and suddenly play golf; it needs some preparation to switch from one activity to another. Our actions become further hampered when our very basic needs are not covered. A man who is very hungry, or very thirsty, or very horny, is a lot easier to tell what he plans to do. His very bodily functions are controlling his behavior. In fact, the slightest change in our mental state (sickness, depression, drunkenness, a comedy on tv) is enough to affect anything we do for a long period of time.

This does not mean we don’t have will. It is just that in theory a completely free individual would be able to do anything he wanted, at any given moment, without his actions being controlled or hampered by external factors. He would have to be a God. But because of myriads of restrictions, our variety of actions is quite narrowed at any given moment. Our will is restricted to only the options we are able to choose from and not ANYTHING we can possibly dream of doing.

The number of choices we have is also dependent mostly on what liberties and privileges our environment offers us; so again it is not something we have complete control over. Thus a more liberal and developed culture is usually offering a lot more privileges and choices to each of its citizens. At the same time, those with authority and large amount of wealth have even more privileges and choices and thus even more options to choose from. Their will (and affect on the rest of the world) is stronger.

16. Luck

As a follow up to the above, there is no actual luck anywhere on this universe. Nothing is done at random but with a mathematical formula. The problem is that the constants in that formula are very few, while the variants are thousands and thus impossible to predict beforehand. Someone with a strategic mind and lots of resources to constantly be kept informed can definitely narrow down the variants, but even then nobody can have a 100% clear image of what will happen next. This unknown sum of variants is what people refer to as luck.

17. Einstein and the Problem of Evil

Sidetracking a bit, it is important to point out the work Einstein left behind and how it can be used as blueprint to even answering basic existentialistic issues in philosophy and religion. For example, before the splitting of the atom, scientists thought that they had invented and discovered all there ever was in the cosmos and that all that was remaining was just calibrating the fine details of their finds. Yet after the split and Einstein’s theories, all sciences were now open to new horizons.

What I really like about his work the most is of course his theories around spacetime. He found the way to merge these two terms, which up to then were considered to be completely different. So I am wondering now why don’t people do the same for religion and finally giving the damn answer to the Problem of Evil? You probably have heard lots of people (and you may be one of them as well) asking why there is evil in the world if God is good or why does god allow for evil things to happen if he is omni-powerful to prevent it. Just like spacetime, the answer is to simply not view good and evil as separate terms. One cannot exist without the other.

How can space be perceived without time? If the light can’t move without the flow of time then we won’t be able to perceive the world (much less move inside it). How can time be perceived without space? We wouldn’t exist to perceive the flow of time. In the same way good cannot be perceived without evil. We wouldn’t be able to even make the question without both. To give a simple answer to all this mess, evil is not the opposite force of good. It is merely its absence. It is like comparing light with darkness; light is basically photons but darkness has no substance at all. It is plain vacuum and in practice does not exist. So we basically have a model of existence and non-existence, both of which have to do with the same thing (something that has substance). Any further complications than that are just void claims (just like darkness that does not exist).

Thus all questioning regarding the wisdom of god and the existence of evil can now be answered exactly because they can be perceived. The question itself is the answer; it is there to simply verify our will and prove we are not robots who blindly follow a program. As the famous quote goes, Cogito ergo sum (I think, therefore I am) meaning it is the questioning that defines my existence. Evil is just the absence of pure good and the realization of that is what sets us apart from being one with god as corporeal and (morally) imperfect beings. This is by no means proof of our sin and guilt to god. It just tells us that we have will because we perceive the world dualistically and learn from that, something which would be impossible in a model of pure good or without time or without space.

18. The Existence of God

In very similar manner to the above, one of the most basic religious answers can be proven right away. Does God exist? According to Cogito ergo sum and of how the question itself is the answer, then there can be only one possible answer. Yes He does, 100% guaranteed. And the proof of which is simply in the description one may have of WHAT God is supposed to be. Here are some very typical answers people give for God that proves his existence, no matter how different their image of Him may be.

A typical believer’s answer: God is the creator of everything in existence.
In that case He exists because we are part of existence and if we were created, then God would be the only reason why we exist right now.

A typical atheist’s answer: God is a lie people invented to feel better and for the priests to control those who need to believe in something superior to themselves.
In that case He exists as a lie. If this lie did not exist, then we would never have religions and believers, and priests in the first place.

A typical kid’s answer: God is someone who looks after people, sends the good ones to Paradise and the bad ones to Hell.
In that case He exists because if He didn’t, nobody would be rewarded or punished for his actions.

A typical jester’s answer: God is an invisible pink unicorn or a flying spaghetti monster.
In that case He exists and is exactly what you said.

A typical agnostic’s answer: I don’t know, I can’t know, and I don’t care to find out.
In that case the answer means nothing to you and the question would never be made in the first place.
