BlizzCon D2

Hey guys.

I'm just about to head over to the ending concert of the event. It's going to be great I think. Really got to go back to the hotel after that and wont have internet there so just thought I'd update you.

Site-wise the trip's been great. We had good news and somewhat good coverage even if we could've done more. The Crew at the spot has been quite disorganized and I still actually never met Xeris and BoboTastic but I think I might bumb into one of them soon.

The RTS Summit was great and it was fun to be here. SC2 was even better and all the people around the place was nice to meet. Personally though I'm longing home to my fiance much (yes I'm getting married next year! <3 Sarah) and really want to go to vacation with her. My shuttle leaves 4am tomorrow morning too so I'm really going to be tired on the flight but then again thats good so I get to sleep much I hope :)

The Blizzard people are so much nicer than you know. The whole community team really makes a difference and its so nice just being able to talk about everything with them and its not like in the dark days with the "forgotten sons" - we're the remembered ones now, and always were. It's so nice to see these great people handle the game and its going to be great. They're really the best.

The Lore Panel was really amazing, those guys just know how to write good stories and make the campaign amazing, they were really funny two and a lot of people laughed all the time when they spoke because of what they said, reference humour, random mini-performances and imitations and great enthusiasm for the characters they are creating.

As I said there wont be internet more though but I'll be heading to the concert now with the level70 guys and grab some dinner, and then have 18hours before I get back to Sweden.

Wanted to give a shoutout to Domi and tell him to keep it up, to LordofAscension - really nice meeting you here bro, AJ, James, Redcloak, Jeff, Crow, Steffie, Karune, Testie, Tasteless, Steven and the others who've been here, its been nice, hope to see you again.

Its too bad but I didnt really have the strenght to get enthusiastic about the actual tournament, didnt do much coverage of it nor watch many games but I'm sure it was fun and the koreans dominated as always. Anyway thanks to all the gosus out there reading the coverage too, without your guys support I wouldn't be here representing y'all!

See you :)

Hey again guys.

I dont know if this is Day one. For me its day three. For most of our europeans its day two. Ah, whatever. It's the second entry anyhow.

I'm currently sitting in the press room at the BlizzCon. I got here very early since I'm still in my european time zone in my body, woke up around 5am here, way before everyone else. So I got up earlier, had a shower, some prayer and took the shuttle here.

It struck me that the whole event is very similar to WCG. And WCG is probably very similar to a lot of other events, but it's all with one major conventional hall that is hired, a main hall with a lot of computers set up in different areas, lots of Koreans, lots of locally hired staff that dont know gaming, stairways, badges, gamers, lots of press for various gaming sites, lots of males in my age, lots of sponsors... well, I know that's basically most of gaming events but it really resembles a WCG Grand final a lot. This seems a little more well-organized though.

Oh, actually, LordofAscension and I are actually going to go to a few panels now, I'll make a new update soon, sorry, haha :P

BlizzCon Day 0 - Meeting Blizzard

I've had the fortunate opportunity to be representing GosuGamers in the Official Blizzard Fan Site program, all of which were invited and flown into BlizzCon the day before to participate in what is called the "RTS Community Summit". The represented sites were, apart from GosuGamers, TeamLiquid, SCLegacy, StarCraft.org, WCReplays, MeetYourMakers, Broodwar.de, Diabloiii.com, W3Roc and GameReplays.

We've all been touring the Blizzard head quarters, met the developers, got to test the game and had a discussion with Karune and other Blizzard representatives regarding the SC2 community and how the interaction with Blizzard can work the best.

Touring the head quarters were great. We signed an NDA (non-disclosure agreement) which means I'm not allowed to go into any of the details of what we saw apart from a few things. First thing I noticed was that their main head quarters didn't have any signs or banners or names on the outside of the building. We passed by a lot of head quarters of major companies like Intel, Cisco and PayPal. They all had very nice logos on the outside - Blizzard didn't. Why? Bomb threats. There were no logos because of security. There were bullet proof windows because of security. "We made World of WarCraft, remember? There are nine million players". And apparently some of those who didn't get the right sword, armor or you-name-it, decided to threaten to blow up the building.

That's just a detail out of the many things I saw yesterday and unfortunately one of the few I can say about the headquarters - but I thought it was an interesting detail. Other things were that there were Blizzard merchandize everywhere within the offices. Art on the walls, monitors displaying the ingame cinematics in a loop, unit statues, unit action figures, awards, WC3 banners, cups, prizes, more art, another Blizzard banner, some StarCraft posters from '98, everything put up in a very nice designed office that had a very Blizzardish feel to it.

We all received lots of things like a nice piece of art that Samwise, one of the main artists at Blizz, had made, who also signed it. We then got to see different departments and I also stumbled upon Jeff aka XG3, who started and designed SCLegacy, and Bunny who ran WCReplays, both of them now employees.

In either case, we had lunch with the developers, Dustin Browder, Pob Pardo and Chris whats-his-last-name-again (he is aka Pillars, old school gamer, does some design balance too, not Chris Sigaty, will look it up). That was really nice and we had great discussions about the game and what could be done. I dont really have the time to go into the details of everything here now, cause I'm about to write my report about the actual game that we got to play, but anyway, I'm having a really great time here. The trip was really good and I enjoyed it even though it was litterally a 24 hour trip just to get here. My luggage didnt get through to LA from New York but it got here today, Friday, and I borrowed some clothes from The1Crow since mine wasn't there yet. That's also why I didnt update you guys earlier - my laptop and camera was in the bag.

Anyway, I'm about to go down to the actual BlizzCon area now shortly and meet up with the other GosuCrew. BlizzCon is officially opening today so everyone else will get to play it today, except for us who tried it out yesterday :) More blogging later on! And also please post what you guys want me to look into the details of here, there are so many things I can report on I just have to filter on what. For more general ingame stuff check the news page as always. Later!

The one you feed
Created 12th November 2006 19:00

One evening an old man told his son about a battle that goes on inside people.

He said: "Son, the battle is between two wolves inside us all.

One is evil; it is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, guilt, lies and ego.

The other wolf is good; it is joy, peace, love, serenity, humility, kindness, faith, compassion, truth and hope.

The son asked father: "Which wolf wins?"

The old man replied: "The one you feed".
