Firstly let me state that I might be biased, but definitely not as biased as most Westerners on this site. I have recieved both Eastern and Western education for equal length, actually longer in the Western hemisphere, thus I think I know mostly what I am talking about here. Recently people have been criticizing Chinese government for their action in Tibet, which is definitely acceptable. You have your view and your opinion, feel free to state them. But when you start stating false, biased and one sided view on certain issues, then you are simply being a victim of Western media. So where did this biased view coming from? A student in Havard did a research, most Americans learned Tibet either from media or a famous book named "The Lost Horizon", in which it stated Westerner's ambition to colonize the roof of the world -- "Tibet", and separate it from China, just like what the Japanese did to Taiwan in 1890s due to weak and Chinese government. In the book it clearly wrote things like Tibet is NOT part of China, thus Westerners should colonize it, in which today's point of view is totally unacceptable, but since it was wrote in 1930s, where Western colonial forces were still remained. However, I can tell you that the things stated in this book such as Tibet is NEVER part of China and NEVER should be, is TOTALLY UTTER BULLSHIT. As long as you have been to China, or learned Chinese history in ANY Eastern country, you'd know the following FACTS, and surprisingly there were never reported in Western Media. 1. In the palace where Dalai Lama lives, on the side wall there is a picture where Chinese Princess WenCheng (Tang Dynasty, 7th century) go into Tibet and marry their prince as an enforcement of political bond. 2. Also, there is another painting of Dalai Lama going to Forbidden City and talk with Emeperor. 3. In a recent Chinese News, a letter from Dalai Lama to Mao Ze Dong, where he stated that "Tibet is part of China and always will be, thus it is also the Chinese government's responsibility to help the Tibetians and free them from slavery." Interesting uh? This is word for word from Dalai Lama, and if you dont really understand what he meant, check this website, thank god its in English and done not by Chinese. http://www.iivs.de/~iivs01311/SDLE/Index.htm After doing so much research, I have realized how little I know about Tibet even as a Chinese Canadian. Therefore, to you all, please from now on watch what you are saying, since I am pretty sure you know less than I do. As for the recent chaotic event happened, Western Media has been bashing Chinese government, unreasonbly and misleadingly. For example, Western media stated that it was Chinese police who were impose violence on Tibetians first, it's not true. A friend of mine who lives in Lahsa, told me that it was the mobs who started smashing citizens windows, cars and other properties first, and it was long before the police came. And after 2 policeman was injured by a group of mobs first, then the armed police came and suppresed them with force. Another exmaple of misleading inform would be something like Kusel posted that German politicians boycott Olympic Open ceremony for this, but later we found out it's actually not true, they were boycotting it in the first place before everything happened. Lastly, I state again that both you and me are in a degree biased. But I hope people can look at things historically and from a much general point of view. China is a country with 56 different cultural diversities, thus I think Chinese government has done a great job in uniting them, to say that China is still a developing country. For those of you who do not know yet, Iccup season 4 started like 2 weeks ago. I just started playing it 2 days ago and I found something really cool. They actually made lan latency stream internet. So basically there is 0 lag and people play as if they were in lan. I found this progress amazing, and I honestly didn't expect they would do such a fatanstic job. So now I suggest you all to go play on Iccup and enjoy top Starcraft gaming experience. | |||||||||||||||||||
