Another Starcraft 2 thread. This time a
Starcraft 2 Petition that was started by Kenny Marshall.
Kenny starts it off like this:
This petition is being started in the hopes that we, the people that have played Blizzard entertainment’s Starcraft PC game and its expansion pack, can spur the before mentioned company to make what we have been wanting them to make for a long time! And that being, either another expansion pack for Starcraft, or another separate and complete Starcraft game (i.e. Starcraft 2)...
You can finish reading it at the petition site if you have time to waste. I am always hesitant when it comes to voting in online petitions. You know how it goes, they want your e-mail, your name etc.. Next thing you know your get a few hundred more spam e-mails offering you do not want or what you will never have. As petitions go most are pretty pointless and achieve nothing. So I thought why participate in this one? I ignored it a while back until I realized two little facts that made me want to sign it. One was that the number of signatures keeps climbing; now they are around 7500 e-signatures.
Is that a large number? Let me put it in a different perspective. It is a well known fact that for every person that signs an online petition there is usually about 100 people that click on the petition and ignore it whether they agree with it or not, much like I did initially. That means that around 750000 people have checked that petition. You might argue that Starcraft fans are more fanatical about their game that other gamers lowering the ratio but even if you lower it to 1:25 you still get a staggering number for a 7 year game.
Still not convinced the number is large? Well compare to another funny popular petition: "Mom's against Maddox." They achieved 9000 or so signatures enough to have annoyed and amused the creator of the self acclaimed "Best Page in the Universe." I can tell you one thing, there is certainly more people out there that hate Maddox with a passion that are willing to sign a petition than there is Starcraft players willing to sign a petition for Starcraft 2.
Ok, so a lot of people want Starcraft 2. Why? The game is almost perfect, so why vote? I argued with myself. A new expansion with better ladder support, better anti-hack and anti-piracy systems? Maybe fix all those little bugs in the game? Maybe 2 more units each race? Maybe a new race? It does not matter. What really matters is that it is a call for attention. That is the main and sole objective of this petition. It is saying "hey, here we are we still play starcraft how about a little Blizz tender loving care?"
And the other reason that made me sign the petition? Simple one: Blizzard locked the thread. There I signed it, how you like them apples Blizzard?
