He can't tell the guys at PGTour about security holes in their anti hack launcher any more. Instead, Ashur now managed to crack TravelToAiurs creation, BWScanner. It is possible to fix it, but it would take a lot of work.
One of the absolutely best (if not the best) and most productive programmer of third hand software for Starcraft is the Czech Republican
Ashur. He was constantly telling the PGTour programmers and the guys how they could have strengthen the PGTour anti-hack launcher by finding out ways it could be tricked, comming with suggestions for security fixes and so on over and over again, just to make it as safe as possible. Although, he says their work on it didn't really solve the poblems, so it was still open for hack in several ways. When PGTour went down recently he obvious couldn't do that any more. But hey, there is still BWScanner! So now after just a bit of work on it Ashur managed to crack trough the anti hack utility.
It didn't take him very long. He knew what to look for, and for him it was quite easy. "It's quite easy if you know what to find and where to search. If you have absolutely no knowledge it is hard.", he says. By looking at code Ashur saw how he could fool the check engine in BWScanner, which is constantly searching trough the Starcraft memory, that no program was changing it. That way BWScanner could not see that an external map hack was loaded and being used at the same time.
superpenguin also discovered some other bugs and security holes, that will not be revealed for quite obvious reasons. Hopefully they can be updated and fixed in future versions if there will be any. Ashur says that
