Now in its finals stages the GOM Intel Classic is really about to take off in terms of high level gameplay. Sp1ralArch1tect gives you a look at whats is past and what is to come.

A highly ingored tournament in both StarCraft communities, forced into the shadows by a dominating force known as KeSPA. This tournament has had its set backs from the beginning, not to mention the contention felt from the aforementioned company has made things much much harder for GOM. Despite the setbacks and despite enemies in high places, this tournament has managed to shine as a refreshing glass of water in a Gatorade world. When your really look at the lineup of Tasteless, old-schoolers, current pros and a chance for the new guys to shine its easy to see why KeSPA turned tail and ran from it, its a good tournament.

Do You Remember...

There was a time when our favorite players where clear for each race, early on you could easily identify Boxer as the big favorite (2001) for the Terran, with Yellow and Garimto on his heels the atmosphere was electric. The crowds would roar as the legends of Brood War would walk down the aisle clothed in ridiculous space garb, which now makes them look regal. Those days have gone and now we have a different kind of excitement, the Flash era of the game. A arguably more boring but just as exciting time for Brood War, but the major drawback is the hill which one must climb to become known now.

The GOM Classic brought fresh air into the Brood War community, showing that players who may have been considered B team are more than able to compete on the highest level when given the opportunity to do so. New players like Shuttle (a.k.a. YoonJoong), Memory and the recent OSL hopeful (TUSHIN FIGHTING!) BackHo have come to the top and the scene looks to have a fresh batch of players. This always happens, but this time it seems so different, this time things are not looking the same this time we get a proxy nydus against the best player in the world, this time we get a fresh look at where Brood War can go.
