The following is just an introduction for new players. It is to help them find the proper tools to help them advance quickly (quicker than finding what I am providing them themselves while stumbling in the dark).

There will be more guides to come. For instance; specifics about many of the programs mentioned in this guide. Player guides for Wc3, CS:S and Quake3/4. And a few Miscellaneous guides as well.

I hope you enjoy, and if you feel there is anything missing. Please feel free to contact me via a Private Message.
    Media/Streaming

    NeoTV (Warcraft3/SC)
    GG-tv (All)
    PPLive (All)
    WaaaghTV (Warcraft3)
    GOM (Starcraft/VODS)
    Octoshape (All)
    VLC (VODS)
    Quadv (ALL)

The aforementioned links are web-sites for streaming videos or viewing VODs (video on demand). Leagues and events use these to stream matches live, or allow you to watch VODs of previously played matches

    Communications

    Ventrilo
    Teamspeak

The aforementioned VOIP (Voice over IP) clients are to help you communicate with others. You will need a microphone to use these. This allows you to speak to your teammates to further better your communication, as well you can use it for meetings or just general chatting with others.

    mIRC.0
    mIRC.2
    mIRC.3

mIRC is a peer to peer chat program. It is a client that runs from various servers. The two main servers are quakenet (for Europe and Asia) and Gamesurge (for America). The premiss of this program is to help people network. With this client you can make your own channel and have others join it so you can contact them either by speaking in your channel or by sending them a private message. Many teams use public channels to find other plays, scrims, sponsors etc.

    NNscript

NNscript is a user interface for mIRC. It acts as a skin or configuration for your mIRC. It is more user friendly and allows you to do more with mIRC without having to know the complicated commands.

    AIM
    MSN
    Trillian
    Xfire
    ICQ

All of the aforementioned messengers serve the same purpose. Each have different capabilities, however it would be good to use all of them. Many people use different messengers so it is pertinent to use all so you can contact all of your contacts.

    Skype

Skype is a VOIP (voice over IP) speaking program. Similar to Ventrilo and Teamspeak, it acts as a phone as well. Skype has more capabilities and has certain services that you have to pay for, for instance the capability of being able to contact a persons phone.

    Miscellaneous

    Garena

Garena is a client side program that reduces online lag to nil. You can use various games on it such as Starcraft, Warcraft, Quake 3, Counterstrike 1.6 and others. Garena is setup similar to mIRC, with channels where you can meet new players etc. However it has the capability of paring up with your games to reduce your lag when playing with others using the Garena client. This optimizes your practice and will help prepare you for LAN events.

    ESEA

ESEA is a client side program designed to allow players in competitive eSports to play solely against each other. When your team is not on you are able to pug (pick-up-game) with other eSports enthusiasts to optimize your practice time.

    Ugame

Ugame is an online networking site for eSports enthusiasts. It allows eSports enthusiasts of all backgrounds and game platforms to stay in contact with each other.

There are a few others that combine most messengers as well like 'pigeon' I left it out, I didn't feel it was necessary considering the fact that IRC and the others should be left seppurate.

Not to mention I could have a page on its own with just messengers. I just wanted to make things simpler and allow new people (and possibly veterans) the chance to see what the majority of people use. (Not that a lot of people do not use Mirand or Pigeon, but like I mentioned earlier it keeps things simple)

Thank you though. I appreciate it.

A replay viewer at this point would be pointless. Every game has decent replay/demo viewing capabilities. Not to mention VODs and youtube.

As for custom keys. Heck no, that would be game specific. As well then I would have to add how to make a cfg for every game (which is different for every game) And that is past a beginner. As well, it has to do with the games. This is just to introduce them to eSports in general.

If I wanted to post how to set up cfg's or custom keys for wc3/Dota I would make a separate guide for.

Thank you I hope it helps new people as well. I wish I had something like this when I started out.

WOW! This is what I'm talking about! Everytime I see something like this it feels like a sun rises within me. Because it can be so hard for newcomers to find the helpful and entertaining links/sites/tools themselves. And most people never care to help out really.

So all thumbs up for this!

www.sk-gaming.com has a lot of them or if you get the replays at replays.net you can right click the map and save it to your computer

Most clan/coverage sites (WCR/SK/MYM) do replays and news.

I know, I just already had them there. And I urge people to explore the entire sites. So the demos/replays would become apparent to them. I did not want to overlap the same websites/info and clutter things up.

For IMs you should seperate single protocoll messagers (ICQ,AIM,MSN,etc), from multiprotocoll messagers (miranda, trillian, etc). Because if you use one multimessager, you don't need any more messagers.

however it would be good to use all of them

If you have infinite RAM perhaps, else the multi messagers are a better solution.

You still need the accounts from the other messengers to put in Trillian or miranda. Not to mention, some people like the added e-mail functionality and may want it sepperate.

#21 trillian imports all your connections from other messengers, and you can copy paste the irc perform ;)

Yes...but you need the accounts first. You can't import something if you don't have it in the first place.
