AmeriCup full of the world's finest - not just Americans

Even though there are seven Americans among the 32 players, it is not a cup for Americans as some might think when looking at it right away. No, GGL StarCraft AmeriCup include some of the best players around, who each week play eachother for fame, skill increase and of course the money - $4,000 USD!

USA A leader 88)inControl wins over FroZ

froz.gifOne of the most interesting matches were the ones between the two players United States 88)inControl and United States FroZ (pic) with the GGL name Unluck. Every week PuertoRican - administrator of StarCraft GGL - does an interview with a special character. This time it was the United States A team manager's turn to stand in the spotlight. "Beating the best USA bw player in a series with stakes IS a nice ass feeling" he tells GGL. He beat FroZ 2-1. inControl says that he knew how FroZ played because they are sparring partners and have played eachother in TLTour some. "He's very aggressive so I decided I'd like to counter it with my own aggressiveness". The third and deciding game inControl decided to rush FroZ with a 9 pool Zergling rush.

"Player to lose game 1 is fairly common to win the whole series"

The interview with inControl is quite interesting, since they talk a lot about the match, a bit about psychology and the event itself. PuertoRican asked the American if by losing the first game made him more focused in the last two. On that, inControl responds as an experienced player. "I've played enough series that I know it is fairly common for the player who lost game 1 to win the series." He bases this on that you get more sharp when losing the first game and that the other guy tends to relax a bit more.

doLife wins over FiSheYe

Another interesting result was Germany ash.doLife facing Germany FiSheYe[pG] (pic). This match was won by the ash member, taking down the experienced offline player FiSheYe, whose highest merit is runner-up in World Cyber Games 2003. ash.doLife, who quite recently won WGTour Season 11 2on2 finals, won against FiSheYe 2-0.
