Coverage - Latest updates and results
    September 15 00:32
As you might have figured out, the Internet connection was cut off just as I was publishing the results. We are truly sorry for this and we really tried to keep it available to cover from the event for as long as we could. Now, after some time we finally reached a local Internet café which we know by contacts, who let us in at this time. It's 00:34 Sunday morning over here, so we're really overworked and won't get some sleep for a long time. Enough whining, let's get to the finals. TreK played, and won, Daaman after a best out of three in the semi-finals. As you know, the event was prolonged and therefore, unfortunately, we couldn't give the players any short breaks at all. So, TreK versus SaFT began immediately. Some observers were still left at the event as the arena was emptied by some WCG Staff. We continued until the last piece of the tables at the arena were taken away, and then we left the WCG Sweden 2003. A perfect event in our ambition to make gaming more officially admitted by press and media. But we didn't leave before the award ceremony!

Well, a minor one atleast. The remaning, about 60, Starcraft fans who were still there, consisting mostly of players and crew, watched the award ceremony. The big crowd, the press and all the other random people had long before left the arena, and only the gosus were still there. Sweden SaFT, after beating Sweden TreK, 2 games to 0. SaFT, as the only player who goes to Korea from WCG Sweden, and TreK as a true worth runner up. TreK got himself a nice Samsung mobile and SaFT a ticket to WCG Korea 2003.

As I saw the ceremony, I watched the players and fans in their seats as they were applauding enthusiastically. I felt that this is the edge of gaming. I fear that this, this very moment, is the last World Cyber Games for Brood War, and this is the last thing I will do. With this successfull event behind me, behind us, I fear that the Brood War community has come to an end.

But can that happen? I'm not sure. I'm not sure if I will continue working with this, I'm not sure how the future of this site will look, I'm not sure what will happen with Brood War in WCG San Francisco 2004. So, I took some time and thanked the Swedish Starcraft Community for all it has given me personally. Thank you all! I hope we make it another year.

      Sweden 1) SaFT
      Sweden 2) TreK
      Sweden 3) Sweden
      Sweden 3) Daaman

The remaining replays (if we find them all) and some pictures will be released tomorrow. Right now, all we can think about is to sleep. Big hugs to everyone attending this event, especially players and the crew, I love you.

My God this is tense! Only the real (about 60 persons) are remaining, the rest of the crew of the event and all the spectators have left the arena. GosuGamers Crew has only a few computers left to work on, we're working asap on the replays, so hold on. SaFT just won his game versus Sweden 2-1, and TreK still playing Daaman. DAMN IT'S CLOSE!!! I even got to stay here in Stockholm another night, skipping tomorrow's education. Anyway, final soon and they might just close our Internet connection in a few minutes. What if they do? We'll publish the statistics some other place I hope, if anything is open at the moment. Hope it is. More information coming, everything is happening at the same time and I hope we still got the connection until the final is played. Anyway I'll keep you updated.

Okay people, this event has gotten really prolonged. There has been talk about playing the finals another day, such as tomorrow etc. This event has to end so we're telling the players to hurry up as much as we can, working during constant time pressure. There have been lots of happenings on the stage, famous people have been interviewed and shows have been run etc. We've now rushed into the semi-finals which also will be played best out of three. I'm sorry I don't have time to write as much as I usually do or usually want, but as I said, there's a lot to do. The evening has been very interesting so far and there's been a huge interest in the Starcraft tournament. Sure, Counter-Strike got a lot of the main attention and is the game that has been shown on the big screens mostly, but as iD.LovE stated on the stage "Starcraft owns Counter-Strike, CS are for youngsters" there were lots of applause around the arena. Strange, isn't it? :)

    Anyway, semi-final brackets:

    September 14 15:21 - Mazor:
There have been lots more prolongings at the tournament and therefore we will start later with Brood War. We are about to begin 16.00 with the first group. We will come back with results later.

    September 14 11:24 CET - Mazor:
A few Starcraft players have arrived at Berwaldhallen, but only a few so far. All the Counter-Strike players have arrived and are currently playing the group-stages. GosuGamers Crew has meanwhile been busy interviewing some SC-players. The interviews will be published together with WCG SWE 2003 the movie. Replays and pictures including coverage will take some time to complete - especially since the player computers haven't got any Internet connection, only the administration computers have. Lots of people want to use these computers due to the Internet - and this means, of course, that we can't write updates so often. This will be changed around 14.00 CET so look for future updates at the time. Until then its only Counter-Strike so nothing really to report. We'll be back soon.

    September 14 09:19 CET - Mazor:
The final groups have been published and will be used at the event. GosuGamers Crew has successfully arrived to the location and are preparing the event.

    September 13 15:58 CET - Mazor:
Due to a misunderstanding in the previous seeding, new seedings hae now been published. This seeding will be the list used for the drawing of the groups tomorrow.

    September 10 13:33 CET - Mazor:
Some interviews with the players have been published by ArtofStorm, as a preview for the Sunday. Interviews with the following players are available (click on the name to open):
    » TreK
    » WiLLEt
    » DeliCato
    » HeavensBackdoor

    September 09 - 21.20 CET- Mazor:
The groups have been published including the seeding of each group.

    September 08 19.13 CET - Mazor:
Added a guide including a map how travel to the location of this event, both by bus and by car.

    September 08 18.18 CET - Mazor:
Article published containing the most important information for the national final.
