Well it's been a year a bit since I posted my first blog here, interestingly enough my first blog was about the largest MMORPG to date, World of WarCraft. Since then I've actually succumb to this game and I must say it's the most addictive game ever. It's hard enough running your own life, and this is why i stray away from games like The Sims. Why on Earth would I want to have to PRETEND to run someone else's life when my own is quite troublesome enough. So then what is World of WarCraft? It's definitely not a simulation, but it is dynamic enough to be a reflection of your person. Although there aren't enough combinations of armors and physical appearances to differentiate all players, it's game play allows you to mold your character into the character you want it to. For example the talent trees, you can choose which tree to follow and so would enhance your abilities in one tree. Once you've picked a tree then what about the armors you choose? In the end-game armors it will always be the same, save for those epic dungeon drops. Overall your character is fairly customizable. Next, the community. Being in raids and guilds, you get a sense of community. There are all kinds of people playing WoW that have level 70's, grandmas, soccer moms, CEOs, paper-boys, and all sorts of people. It's amazing. The phenomenon that is WoW is just incredible. I don't see how you don't want to play this game, other than the sheer amounts of hours you have to put into this game. I've put at least, AT LEAST 100 hours into this game, if not more. And there are several ways to play this game. You can enjoy this game for the quests, the raids, and the leveling. The lore itself for me is quite long and drawn out, and uninteresting. You can also do battlegrounds instead and test your skills in PvP. I have many friends who have a 2nd character just for battlegrounds. One of them keeps a level 29 to do Warsong Gulch, and plays him quite frequently. He has once won WSG within 7 minutes by coordinating several other players from the same server. I've never liked RP and will never try it. To me, that's the limit. When you start to pretend like you're actually that character, then you have way too much time on your hands. In closing, I'd like to say that yes WoW has many good features, but it's still addicting as hell =/. SAVE YOURSELVES!!! Or join me, I'm Roknaw on Arygos server, level 60 Elemental Orc Shaman. =D |
