Are we all nerds?
Who doesn't know this? You are visiting an eSports page, clicking through some pictures of a tournament or LAN. Suddenly there is a photo of a girl, a REAL female! The pictures before had an average of 1-3 comments, but this one has got atleast 10-15 comments, and I bet atleast half of them are either "woooah <3 her!!!!!" or "bah, she's ugly / fat / dumb / <insert any insult here>".

Are we really that poor? Gaming is dominated by males, and if you take any conclusion out of those comments one easily can think that all gamers are really nerds. I mean, do you guys also comment like an idiot to a woman you meet in real life? If you now would answer "yes" you should seriously think about your social life.
If you answer "no" you seem to be kinda okay in real life atleast, but why do we have to do such comments? I just don't get why girls in gaming are hyped that much, people behave as if they've never seen one before and act like crazy in the comments, others (which are worse than the first I mentioned imo) act like they are Mr. Playboy himself and start insulting, saying their GF is like 100 times hotter and the girl on the photo is ugly as hell. This kind of commentators wants to be seen as the Mr. Universe, the guy who gets every woman with only looking at her, but most in real life would not even be able to open their mouth in front of any female.

But does it really help to act either of those two ways? The reason seems to be that it gives one some kind of self-confidence, but this is an illusion, it's virtual. Even if some gamers would be impressed by such comments, you will most likely never meet some of them in real life and therefore it's worthless.

Nah, I don't think it's just gamers who do it. I hang out with guys who aren't gamers and they say the same things when a hot girl walk by. The insults are not as much unless the girl wears a horrendous outfit...then everyone says something. You just don't get comments about pictures of guys because 95% of the people who do comment and surf those pics...are guys... >_>

Well, but mostly it's not just normal comments but guys going crazy just because it's a pic of a girl they don't even know nor will ever see in real life.

I'm a loser and proud of it. Now, I'm not the stereotypical fat dude who sits at home all day, hell I'm even living with a girl roomate. And she thinks my MYM jersey looks cool. Making comments like that at a girl is normal, nerd or not.

But yes, I am a nerd. I check this site heavily every day, next to SK, MYM, replays.net and Gotfrag as well. I know the lineup and race of every team and player in WC3L and NGL, but that doesn't mean I have to integrate that into my personal life.
