Last week, a substantial patch has hit the PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG) test server. It also includes a whole lot more than the new desert map, Miramar.
In the PUBG’s Development Blog, the team described their journey from Pre-Alpha to 1.0: They started working on their game in late March 2016, then conducted the first closed pre-alpha test in July. Just after a year of development, game released on Steam Early Access in March 2017, which eventually led to PUBG Corporation splitting from Bluehole in order to focus more on the game. New areas to the map, new weapons, new animations and the like were added all throughout the game’s Early Access development.
Fixing numerous server/connection issues is currently one of their top priorities. The team also admitted that they were not prepared for the amount of cheaters they found in their game. In the post, the PUBG Dev team said that they are doing their very best to provide their players with the astounding Battle Royale experience.
Moving into the patch notes, PUBG now has a redesigned the lobby background and UI. However, some menu options were hidden for they are still being worked on. We can explore those options when the game releases on December 20, moving out from the Steam Early Access, as they announced at The Game Awards.
The newest map, Miramar, will be the only map available during phase 1 which is scheduled PST: December 8th 02:00AM - December 10th 02:00AM, with phase 2 to be announced thereafter.
Miramar supports two weather types: Clear and Sunrise. Players can really use some unique tactics as weather types play a significant role in players’ overall in-game vision. Erangel has weather types such as Daylight, Rain, Sunset, Clear Skies and Fog.
Looking into the newest PUBG items, they added three Miramar exclusive weapons namely R45, Win94, and Sawed-Off. R45 is a revolver that will take place R1895 in Miramar. It has a higher accuracy and faster reload speed than R1895. Win94 is a lever action rifle that is mid-range effective, while Sawed-Off is a short-ranged shotgun that can fire in rapid succession. They also added a new Ghillie suit to the care package. They haven’t released a weapon that is exclusive to the care packages.
In terms of sniper rifles, the damage has been increased for the Kar98k and the M24, and the damage for the AWM has been reduced. On top of that, the damage multiplier to the torso has been increased by 10 percent across the board for all snipers. Overall, sniper rifles may be a bit more viable now than before.
Not only new weapons were released, but also new vehicles. A Van, a Pickup, and a water vehicle, Aquarail, has been added to the map. It is your time to explore the new vehicles to use it in tactical situations and in various playstyles.
Another big change is the new ability for passengers to heal themselves with bandages in boosts while riding in a car. Drivers cannot do so, and the action can be canceled by a sudden speed change, an impact, or a vehicle flip. So, if you were damaged after a fight, you should give the driver seat to someone else, if you’re in a Duo or Squad match.
If you love playing the first-person perspective (FPP), this update is for you. The position of the gun in FPP will now be lowered depending on the scope or other attachment that is mounted on the firearm. Also, the camera is moved to correct position in FPP mode for drivers.
The UI has seen some love in this update, as the color of the HP bar will now better reflect how much health the player has left. The bar will be yellow when HP is below 50 percent, red when below 25 percent, and blinking red when below 10 percent.
Meanwhile, three days ago, they released the second patch notes for the 1.0 Test Build. The test servers will stay open until the 20th of December, which is the debut of 1.0 update on live servers. Also, Erangel and Miramar will be playable but will be selected randomly when a match begins. Furthermore, they’ve also added Aquarail and Miramar’s new Ghillie suit to the care package on Erangel.
It is really the best time of the year to test the newest patch, for the PC 1.0 launch of PUBG is on its way before the end of the year.
