PUBG Devs: “our battle against cheaters will not end overnight”

The Development and Community Team made a statement regarding the current situation revolving around cheaters in PlayerUnknown’s BATTLEGROUNDS.

The PUBG Development and Community Team posted on PUBG’s website earlier this week promising to continue the fight against hackers and cheaters in game. The team also mentioned that a new anti-cheat patch would be coming today, November 14, into tomorrow.

In the news posted on their website, the team writes that they’re well aware of the cheating and hacking that’s been more frequently seen in PUBG as of late. Cheaters have figured out how to hack into the game and increase their speed, aimbot and see/shoot through walls to claim victory over normal players. In a game where you only get one chance at a victory with no respawns, those type of cheats are devastating (and frustrating) for honest players.

Though they didn’t mention specifics, the Development and Community Team did say that they were “adopting new tools” and are starting to become more proactive in their fight against the rulebreakers of the PUBG community. The anti-cheat patch coming next week should help with these issues.

A completely clean game, however, seems to be a ways down the road; the team did promise to continue their research and their fight against hackers, but that it would take time to fully grasp the situation and bring about a useable solution for the cheating problem.

PlayerUnknown’s BATTLEGROUNDS is currently protected by BattlEye, an anti-cheat software, which has banned over 300,000 hackers to date. However, on some hacking forums, some cheaters say that they can simply get a new account on another name and be back on the Battlegrounds without any issues (well, at least, until that account gets caught, but then it’s just a rinse and repeat process). On October 21, BattlEye tweeted that they had banned 42,000 players in one day alone.

“And no,” they mentioned in the first tweet of a thread regarding their hackers banned statistics, “we don’t like such numbers at all.”

According to PlayerUnknown - the man who many consider the man behind the Battle Royale scene’s surging popularity - PUBG has sold over 20 million copies since its launch on Early Access in March 2017. The game is also slated to have a XBox One release and could possibly see it’s way to PS4 consoles in the future.
