Bertrand “Elky” Grospellier has reclaimed the top of the Global Poker Index following his win in the EPT Berlin $10,000 No-Limit Hold’em event and third place finish in the €100,000 Super High Roller at the Monte-Carlo Casino European Poker Tour Grand Final. His win in the Berlin event was worth €231,000, while the third place finish in the Super High Roller netted him an additional €621,000.

Grospellier edges out former number one ranked profession Jason Mercier by less than 100 points with 2,982.42 to Mercier’s 2,898.03. Sorel Mizzi sits in third with 2,553.66 points, followed by Eugene Katchalov and David "Doc" Sands with 2,551.10 and 2,475.35 points respectfully. WSOP Main Event Champ Jonathan Duhamel is trailing, but still in the top ten with 2,288.28 points.

New to the GPI, which ranks the top 300 players worldwide is Justin Bonomo who enters the rankings in 74th place following an impressive run at the Monte-Carlo Casino European Poker Tour Grand Final where he won the €100,000 Super High Roller for €1,640,000 and followed that up by cashing in the Main Event and final tabling the €25,000 High Roller. The points for the High Roller event haven’t gone into effect yet, so Bonomo is expected to climb even higher in next week’s rankings release.
