Nasez Alkhatib Wins Record-Breaking Heartland Poker Tour Event in Minnesota

The Heartland Poker Tour hosted the largest poker tournament ever in the state of Colorado just last weekend, and then followed up this weekend by breaking the record in their home state of Minnesota. While the $473,928 prize pool fell short of the HPT’s projected estimate of $1 million, it was still a great accomplishment.

“We are grateful for the opportunity to bring HPT home to Minnesota again this year,” said President Todd Anderson, “We are committed to the loyal players in our backyard.”

The eventual winner of the record-breaking event was Nasez Alkhatib, a 29-year-old student just one week away from earning his MBA in organizational management. Alkhatib had to wake up early Monday morning to take an online test at 5am before heading back to the casino for the events final table. Despite the early morning test, followed by a long drive, Alkhatib remained sharp enough to eliminate his five opponents for the $118,482 first place prize.
