Frederik Jensen Wins European Poker Tour Madrid Main Event

Frederik Jensen is the latest champion as the European Poker Tour invades Madrid. Jensens win comes on the heels of, fellow Dane, Mikey Petersen, who won the EPT Copenhagen event just two weeks ago.

Players representing 46 countries converged on Madrid for a chance at fame and fortune. The €4850 buy-in event drew 477 participants creating a prize pool of just over €3 million. Jensen received €495,000 for the victory, after defeating Fraser MacIntyre heads-up. The cash is the largest ever for the online pro, and his first major live title.

After the tumultuous final table played down to three players, a chop was discussed. MacIntyre, who was the shortest stack, suggested a three-way chop for €300,000, leaving €205,000 up for grabs for the eventual winner. But Jensen, the chip-leader, pressed for more money, and got it, with an agreement that gave €290,000 to MacIntyre, €330,000 to Andrei Stoenescu, and €385,000 to himself, leaving €100,000 up top.
