Massive Fields as the L.A. Poker Classic Kicks Off

The 2012 LA Poker Classic at the Commerce Casino began with a bang. Event #1 was a $65 buy-in no-limit hold’em event with re-entries and a whopping $100,000 guarantee. When registration finally closed, 3,333 players had entered over the four starting days creating a $166,650 prizepool. Van Rowin Manlambus of Oxnard, California was the eventual winner, taking home $14,365 after emerging victorious following a five-way chop.

Event #2 was a $340 buy-in no-limit hold’em event with a $1,000,000 guarantee. After five starting days, 3,234 players had entered creating a $1,099,560 prize pool. This time, Seyed Edalat of San Jose, California was declared the official winner after a ten-way deal was struck, with Edalat earning the largest payout of $113,560.

There are 50 events in total in this the 20th running of the LAPC including a variety of games and buy-ins culminating with the $10,000 World Poker Tour L.A. Poker Classic Main Event, which will begin on February 24th. Previous winners of the Main Event include Gus Hansen, Michael Mizrachi, Antonio Esfandiari and Phil Ivey.
