Freddy Deeb Profile

Freddy Deeb is a well liked long-time successful poker player. He owns two World Series of Poker bracelets after winning the 1996 2-7 Draw $5k event and the massive 2007 $50,000 H.O.R.S.E event for over $2 million. He has gone deep twice in the WSOP Main Event finishing in 17th in 1995 and 13th in 2003 to go with his 28 in-the-money finishes. Deeb has also had considerable success on the World Poker Tour, reaching five final tables and winning both the 2005 World Poker Tour Ultimate Poker Classic for $1million and the 2003 L.A. Poker Classic. He most recently won the 2010 WPT Rendez Vous a Paris High Roller event. Deeb's total live tournament winnings exceed $7.2 million. Deeb was born November 27, 1955 in Beirut, Lebanon and now resides in Irvine, California.

  • Deeb initially played in Reno and built a small roll that he eventually took to Las Vegas.
  • Deeb's, originally born Kassem, was given the nickname Freddy when someone misread his name on a waiting list for a poker room and his friend said it was Freddy.
  • Deeb's first big WSOP cash was in 1990 when he finished second in a $2,500 NLHE event and took home $130k.
  • Deeb is close friends with Eli Elezra.
  • Deeb became well known for his penchant to wear flashy and gaudy shirts in 2003 when Phil Ivey made a comment on ESPN coverage that it must be the shirt that helped him win.
  • Deeb has appeared on numerous poker TV shows, including Poker Superstars Invitational and High Stakes Poker.
  • Deeb prepares for tournament series by exercising regularly, getting eight hours of sleep, eating healthfully and according to him getting lots of sex.
  • Deeb is married with four children and enjoys swimming, skiing, soccer and bicycling.
  • Deeb outlasted a final table that included Doyle Brunson, Gabe Kaplan and David Grey to win his first WSOP bracelet in 1996.
