Today the 5th - 8th groups were played and again no big suprises came up. The favourites made it again but experience shows that the second groupstage will be much more suprising.
Top players like Syc, Creolophus or Sweet finished first in their groups and a lot of other also very good ones made it top three and also qualified for the next stage. Probably a bit suprising is that Spell finished first with FatC "only" second but someone who followed the latest results of both players might not be very suprised.
Group 5 WLSyc 4 3 0 110 ChobO 4 3 0 1 10 V4-pro 4 1 1 2 4 Wizzede2 4 1 1 2 4 Hitking 7 3 0 4 9 MeRLiN 4 0 4 4 0 |
A group with a lot of deciding matches. ChobO and Syc both were ranked first with 10 points each so they had to face each other again and Syc won. Both players already were qualified so this did not make a big difference but the second deciding match between V4-pro and Wizzede2 was much more important for both players. The winner became ranked 3rd while the loser was out. V4-pro could win this match and so made it to the second groupstage.
Group 6 WLCreolophus 64 2 0 14 ReiGn 6 4 2 0 14 PaTo 6 4 0 2 12 St3 6 3 2 1 11 KayO 6 11 4 4 Johnboy 6 0 2 4 2 Hamperer 7 1 1 5 4 Skin 6 0 1 5 1 |
Again a deciding match had to be played. This time the opponents were Creolophus and ReiGn. Both players were already qualified so the match wasn't that important. Creolophus was able to win and so he got ranked first. The third place went to PaTo who was close before St3 with one point.
Group 7 WLSpell 4 3 1 0 10 FatC 4 2 2 0 8 Guangmo 4 21 2 7 ninJ 4 0 1 3 1 WhiSp 4 01 3 1 |
Group 7 was won by the German Spell. He showed impressive skills and was able to defeat Guangmo and draw against FatC, wo became second.
Group 8 WLSweet 6 5 1 0 16 Giacomo 6 5 0 1 15 SaSe 6 4 1 1 13 Syphonia 6 3 0 3 9 Shase 6 2 0 4 6 Qoot 6 1 0 5 3 Kaser 6 0 0 6 0 |
Again a Korean finishes first in his group. Sweet showed impressive play and it looks like as if he's in quite good shape at this tournament. Giacomo and SaSe finished second and third as expected.
