The Final Week of APEX Group Stage gets under way with two one-sided series

With the group stage coming to a close we're at the point where teams are playing for their tournament lives, and not all are up to the challenge.

Only three more days of play are left in the group stage, with many of the top 8 spots still up for grabs. Some of the series will only determine seeding, while others will have teams fighting to stay in the tournament.

Series one - Rogue vs Flash Lux

Rogue came into their last match of the group stage with high confidence and next to no pressure on them, and it showed in their play. They were already qualified into the top 8, with clean 3-0 wins against Afreeca Freecs Blue and the RG Titans, and a win in their final match against Flash Lux would have them heading into the playoffs as the favourite to take the whole tournament.

The first two maps went very handily in favour of Rogue, even using the opportunity to show off some style on their King's Row offense, taking Hanzo, Widowmaker, and Junkrat and still managing to roll over the Korean squad. If that wasn't enough of a blow, on the third map, Rogue managed to defend point B on Temple of Anubis with a 1-6 ultimate disadvantage.

The series going to Rogue meant that not only did they make it out of group A as the top seed, they did so without dropping a single map.

Series two - BK Stars vs NRG

There was much more on the line in this second series, with both teams fighting to stay in the tournament. KongDoo Uncia had already secured one of the qualifying spots from group B, which left BK Stars and NRG to fight it out for the last spot.

It was set up to be a closely fought series, and NRG came into it with some interesting strategies, but every time it came to the execution they ended up lacking. BK Stars keep on showing improvement from series to series, and stamped their authority over NRG to take the series 3-0 and book their spot in the playoffs.

This final week will have games three days in a row, with both of day two's series' having serious playoff implications. First series will be Flash Lux vs Afreeca Freecs Blue, with the winner moving on and the loser going home.

After that will be LuxuryWatch Blue vs RunAway, with both teams still in the running to make it into the top 8.

Broadcast will start tomorrow at 02:00 AM PDT/05:00 AM EDT/11:00 CET/19:00 KST over at Twitch.tv/OGNGlobal.
