We've been going through season 4 for some time now, but an end is in sight.
Starting at the end of February, Season 4 of the competitive Overwatch ladder continued to go on week after week without a clear idea of when it would be ending. All of that wondering can finally be put to bed, as after a lot of asking, we finally have confirmation date for the end of the current competitive season. Scott Mercer headed to the official forums to finally give us a definitive date:
The two big things to come out of the post are that the current season ends at the end of May, and that the downtime between seasons is going to be shorter, at least this time. This reduced downtime will help combat the restlessness that the more dedicated of players started to feel in the previous breaks between seasons.
May 29 0:00 UTC is the final call for the season, which is May 28 5:00pm PDT, May 28 8:00pm EDT, and May 29 9:00am KST. As mentioned by Scott in his post, a countdown timer will be added to the game in an upcoming patch to make sure that everyone is made aware of when the season is ending.
Now that the date has been set, players who have yet to reach their SR goals for the season now have a deadline to work with. With just a little over a week to work with, that's more than enough time to make those last second climbs up the ranks.
