Immortals dropping out of the Overwatch Pit Championship

Immortals gives up their spot in the Overwatch Pit Championship; Gale Force to replace them.

The Overwatch Pit Championships are featuring some heavy Overwatch names. But now they lose one of 2017’s strongest teams (so far) because Immortals has decided to not compete in this tournament. Even though their name suggests otherwise, the Immortals team turns out to be only human and will need a break after competing in two long running tournaments.

We made the decision to not compete because our players’ well-being is our number one priority. Immortals says on a Reddit thread regarding their dropout. They also mention the fact that they has played in both Overwatch Winter Premiere and Carbon Masters, both taking a long time to finish and then also taking a toll on players’ health and/or fatigue.

Immortals most recently won the Carbon Masters tournament, showing how they’ve become a prominent top team. In Overwatch Pit Championship, they will be replaced by North American ranked 15 Gale Force eSports, which failed to qualify for the tournament earlier. They do now get a second chance, so let’s see them make the most of it.
