Overwatch Pit Championship Group A final standings: A mix of the old and the new

The Overwatch Pit Championship has only just started. On Monday, the final games of Europea's Group A concluded as it showed us a mix of the old and the new.

A few days ago, we reported on the first two days of the Overwatch Pit Championship. There, underdogs Vivi’s Adventure not only managed to take a few rounds, but actual games versus the more established teams. We also were blessed (?) with a lot of justice from above as Pharah seemed strong in the meta. This Monday the final games of Group A were played, to see which teams would qualify for the playoffs, the next phase.

It was the story of 2-0’s. But in the world of BO3’s, results don't always reflect the real standings. Vivi’s Adventure kept being a fresh breeze in the European scene even though Ninjas in Pyjamas took them down in the end of their matchup.

Kyb, Winghaven and their fellow felines on newly formed Laser Kittenz took down French squad of Gamers Origin after beating them on Hollywood and Nepal. GO has struggled a bit in this tournament, but in a close group they’ve taken rounds as well as maps versus some heavier names. The final game of the night was “Korean Superstar” Kruise’s letter dropping eUnited squad, taking on Ex-Tornado Rox. Again, a 2-0 victory, this time in favor for eUnited after close wins on Numbani and Nepal.

So after these final games have been played, the group looks as follows:

This means that NiP, eUnited, Vivi’s Adventure and Laser Kittenz will all go through to the next phase in the tournament. Playoffs will start in about two weeks, but before that there’s plenty of more group stages to be played. Starting tomorrow, Group B of Europe will be played, with teams such as Dignitas, Misfits and Hammers esports. After that, we will get to see what Groups A and B of NA look like.

(eUnited's Morte happy they've qualified.)

So far the European games has been more interesting than most could anticipate, so be sure to tune in for tomorrow’s Group B games on twitch.tv/overwatchpit at 18:00 CEST/9AM PDT.
