Patch 1.9 Live - Hero tweaks accompanying Orisa's release

A new patch just went live. While most people will go straight for Orisa, some other things are also important to note with this update.

The Overwatch team has been busy as busy as ever recently, trying to tune the game. Today they released a new patch featuring Overwatch’s newest hero, the tank Orisa. But they also pushed a few other changes onto the live servers. Amongst the most notable changes we can see a nerf to Ana’s damage, a slight Sombra buff and various bug fixes. Let’s take a closer look at some of the changes.

Ana

  • Biotic Rifle damage decreased from 80 to 60.

Junkrat

  • Total Mayhem – Junkrat’s explosions no longer hurt himself.

Sombra

  • Teammates can now see hacked healthpacks through walls.
  • Sound effects and voice over distance reduced to 15 meters when Sombra enters/exits stealth.
  • Translocator cooldown reduced from six to four seconds.

Winston

  • Barrier Projector’s cooldown now starts when the barrier is placed instead of when it ends.

Route 66

  • The attacking team is now given 60 additional seconds after reaching the first checkpoint.

Ana has gone over a large number of changes over the past weeks, both on Live and PTR. It seems that the developer team has now found a state that they are happy (enough) with. The change to Winston will be interesting to follow, especially with Orisa's release, as well as the small, further tweaks to Sombra. Sombra still isn't played in pro matches as much as we and Blizzard would like.

Something to be worth noticing, is the fact that the changes that are being tried out on PTR for assault and assault/escort maps are yet to go live. Full patch notes can be found here.
