Echo Fox teases involvement in Overwatch League

Rick Fox, owner of esports team Echo Fox, teased his acknowledgement of the OWL today.

It is no longer a secret that the Overwatch League (OWL) road show is officially underway, in which the Blizzard team meets all interested organizations looking to invest and buy a spot in the upcoming League. Nate Nanzer has been spotted in Korea and North America as he negotiates terms with teams, sponsors and cities.

The ambitious Overwatch League is scheduled to start in the third quarter of 2017, with a North American league first. Plenty of organizations should be considered as certain participants, such as EnVyUs, Fnatic and Rogue, if finances don't get in their way.

But depending on the size of the league, quite a few spots are still up for grabs. One organization strongly hinted at their interest today:

As shown, Rick Fox (ex-NBA player, analyst and owner of Echo Fox) is showing off his OWL swag on the plane, after what must have been a very interesting meeting with the Blizzard team. Rick has shared his interest in Overwatch in the past, and the OWL would present a very good reason to finally invest.

When looking at the NA scene, not many top sponsorless teams are currently around. As such it is very likely that Echo Fox would acquire a roster from a smaller organization, like Selfless or Splyce.

In either case, it is currently uncertain when we will learn more about the teams involved in the OWL, or about Echo Fox in particular. Rick Fox' interest and involvement will be very beneficial to it though, as his reach is large with non-esports fans as well.
