Time for more fresh, Finnish Overwatch as LAN tournament Lantrek brings Overwatch BYOC!
Finland is not only known for their saunas, but also their great esports talent. In Overwatch, Ninjas in Pyjamas is a top tier team consisting of only Finnish players. The country does not only produce odd recreational activities and foster great players; they also take good care of their (local) esports scene.
Between March 2nd and 5th, the LAN event Lantrek will take place in Tampere, Finland. They offer a few BYOC (bring your own computer) tournaments, with Overwatch being one of the games represented. The tournament will fit 16 teams, with some spots are already taken, one of which by the established Finnish team Helsinki REDS. As for the tournament setup, it will be a group stage play with a double elimination bracket. All games will be BO3 except for the finale, which will be BO5. The winning team will walk away with €1000 and a nice title to their name.
A lot of countries are catching on to the Overwatch train. So to see more and more tournaments like this is not astonishing news but surely needed for a growing esports scene worldwide. This time it’s Finland’s time to deliver. And who knows, maybe we will see the “new” Taimou?
