Overwatch Carbon Series: Week One Recap

Before we start Week 2, let's see what happened last week!

Monday, February 23rd, marked the start of what looks to be an explosive and cutthroat series. As we mentioned early this month, the teams battling for top spot are Immortals, compLexity, Luminosity Gaming, Renegades, Team Liquid and Hammers eSports. All current standings an schedule for matches can be found here. If you want to see the the matches you've missed, Carbon Entertainment has their VODs up on their Twitch and YouTube channels.

Hammers and Renegades are lining up to be the toughest contenders, both currently sitting at 2 wins and no losses at the end of week one. Hammers impressed in their match up against compLexity. Jacob “Jake” Lyon showing how effective his Genji is on King's Row by pressuring Jack “Shake” Kaplan's Ana, even hitting her with a reflected sleep dart. On the next map, Hanamura, Hammers decided to run a dive composition that was full of style and surprise. They ran a tankless composition of Genji, Widowmaker, Tracer, Pharah, Lucio and Mercy. With Jake's pressure (this time running Pharah), Hammers was able to wipe compLexity's defense down and take the first point. The offensive push unfortunately didn't work out for Hammers on the second point, resulting in a tiebreaker which played in the favor of Hammers. Dive comps were abound on the final map, Oasis, and Hammers won that 3-1, taking the matches from compLexity 3-0. Renegades took their matches 3-0 against Team Liquid and 3-1 against Luminosity. The player to watch during this series is Liam “Mangachu” Campbell. He was, like Jake from Hammers, running a Pharah on offense and defense.

With this past week's matches, it's definitely clear that we will be on the edge of our seats watching this week. Could we possibly see Renegades or Hammers taking the series on little to no losses? Or will one of the underdogs crawl up and take them down? Be sure to tune in on the Carbon Entertainment Twitch Channel tonight for more explosive matches!
