Rogue takes control of North America in Alienware Monthly Melee

In this Overwatch Monthly Melee, Rogue showed up to make clear how big the difference between tier 1 and 2 of the competitive scene still is.

In Feburary's Overwatch Monthly Melee we got another snapshot of the North American scene. Eight of the best NA teams played for the doubled prizepool of $10,000, including new arrival Rogue.

As the APEX league is coming to a close, which should clear up a lot of room for major, shorter events to start up again, the Monthly Melee is a good event to adjust our expectations of the participating teams.

As always, the AMM included a day of group stage matches and another for the playoffs. After day 1, Group A had a clear winner in the form of Rogue, winning all three matches without losing a map. The other three teams in the group (FaZe, Hammers and Renegades) all tied with a 1 win and 2 losses. FaZe made it out as second place due to the map results.

In Group B, Immortals was another clear victor, also not losing a single map.  RiseNation ended up on the second place spot.

Day 2 of the Monthly Melee clearly showed just how much experience Rogue can depend on. As with their first matches in NA, both in terms of matches and for the members physically, the team could not rely on past matchups. Still, they had no problem going through the Upper Bracket, clean sweeping RiseNation and even Immortals. It wasn't until the second to last map of the tournament (Dorado against Hammers) that they had their first set-back.

Speaking of Hammers eSports, they continued their streak of performing at the highest level. They made quick work of Luminosity and compLexity gaming, took on FaZe and even defeated Immortals 3-1 to end up in the finals in which they showed that, with some more time and preparation, they might even beat Rogue.
