Speculations about the 24th Overwatch hero

Is the Doomfist release coming closer or do we get a different hero than expected? At least we know the Sombra sitting emote is nearly finished.

To anyone hoping for the Sombra sitting emote, no worries. The emote is already set, but scheduled for the future to be released. Why haven't they release it yet you might wonder? Other content such as the work on multiple new heroes, numerous events and event-related content gets prioritization. And we are glad the developers have the same priorities as us.

Doomfist has been a grateful subject to speculate about, ever since the initial announcement trailer at BlizzCon 2014. As one of the only real leads we have on potential new heroes, Doomfist is thought to be the next hero by many. A lot of hints have supported this, such as the continued interaction between the community, Blizzard and actor Terry Crews. Terry Crews making a video of voicing Doomfist is at least a nice indication of what Doomfist could sound like.

Game Director Jeff Kaplan made the following statement about the subject on the official forums: 24 is not who you think it is. This one sentence put the whole Overwatch community back into speculation mode. There is content hinting at a “Greek” character. Actor Alew Malaos was mentioned to voice an entity in Overwatch, but this could just be related to background noise. A lot of theories on this “Greek” character are out in the community however.

The conclusion of all these new and old speculations is that the new Overwatch hero still requires a bit of work, but we hope that the 4 month difference between Ana and Sombra is indicative of when we can expect the newest expansion to the roster.
