Gamers Assembly announces Overwatch tournament - For second year in a row

The French LAN-festival of Gamers Assembly has announced that for the second year in a row, they are holding an Overwatch tournament.

Last year, over 1,800 players and 17,000 visitors took part in the big gaming festival that is Gamers Assembly, held at the city of Poitiers, France. The Overwatch tournament from last year’s festival featured 10 teams and a €3000 prize pool. It showcased how strong melty esports was during the beta period, when they didn’t lose a single map and emerged as winners. In October last year, melty closed down, and released their players.

But the French scene has in no way been lacking since. The incredibly successful team of Rogue has since their signing in May 2016 always had a part-French squad. Today the organization is fully French, even though they are located in North America. The French national team also showed a fairly strong showing at the Blizzcon World Cup. So since France are known to produce great gamers, this will be a tournament to keep an eye on.

This year, Gamers Assembly will take place between the 15th and 17th of April. The festival will feature tournaments from more than 10 games, including Overwatch. That tournament will fit 16 teams, and have a €6000 prize pool, double that of last year.

More information are sure to come closer to the tournament date, including the competing teams. As for now, you can find more information on Gamers Assembly’s (French) website here. Registration is open, as this is not an invite-only event.
