Lunar New Year has come, and gone, and after three weeks the latest seasonal event will leave the game.
We hope everybody has been enjoying the Lunar event in Overwatch, getting in enough play or putting in enough money to get the collectibles that they want, because sometime today the game will be patched and the Year of the Rooster will end.
Estimated to end at midnight CET, the Year of the Rooster event added a new bunch of skins, emotes, sprays and other collectibles. After the cold vibe that Christmas naturally exuded, the warm, red theme of this Lunar event was very welcome. Several heroes got great legendary skins, such as Winston, Roadhog and D.Va, and others like Symmetra and Mercy got some classy ones as well.
As is the case with every seasonal event, while the possibility to get the Lunar items will disappear, you will still be able to use all collectibles you did manage to add to your collection during the last three weeks. If you are unable to grind out some more lootboxes for the final items you want, then you will need to wait until the event returns (in some form) next year.
Capture the Rooster, Overwatch's Capture the Flag version, will also disappear in its current rendition, but due to the popularity of the gamemode Blizzard has made the decision to add it to the options of the upcoming Server Browser, along with a whole string of extra maps. So for the first time, you will be able to continue playing the seasonal event's brawl (after the PTR patch lands on the live servers).
