The Asian qualifier has been completed! The final qualifying team has been decided, and it comes from South Korea.

After the American and European qualifiers’ winners were decided in the MSI Masters Gaming Arena tournament, the Asian team KongDoo Panthera knocked Detonation Gaming Team 2 out of the finals to become the Asian representative. Like the American and European qualifiers, the Asian bracket consisted of eight teams, single elimination and a Best of 3 series to decide the ultimate winner.

An overview of both the American and European qualifiers are to be found here and here.

With only dropping 1 game versus their sisterteam KongDoo Uncia, KongDoo Panthera didn’t seem to have a lot of difficulties in winning the qualifier. Detonation Gaming T2 proved to be very strong in the previous rounds, but failed to win a single game in the finals. Alter Ego didn’t have the smoothest run in the qualifier and got eliminated in the semifinals.

The main event will contain the 3 qualifying teams,  RiseNation, Ninjas In Pyjamas and KongDoo Panthera, and a direct invite, which is yet to be announced by MSI. The LAN finals will take place in the Gfinity Arena in London on the 7th and 8th of December. With a prizepool of $75,000, viewers will join a heated battle between the qualified teams and the invited team. The Grand Finals will be presented on the MSI Twitch channel, right here.

While we are still waiting for MSI to release the invited team, NiP is considered by many to be the favourite team to win the Grand Finals. After seeing them perform almost flawlessly in the qualifiers, will the others be able to stop their winstreak (currently at 13) at this event?

But don’t forget about the American team RiseNation that unexpectedly eliminated Cloud9 with a whopping 2-0. KongDoo will have to prepare themselves pretty well to give the best they have, but they will have enough opportunity to do so. The mystery remains what team will get invited and if the odds will completely change in their favour.
