Game Director Jeff Kaplan Releases Overwatch Developer Update | 5th October 2016

Changes are here on the PTR and in the pipeline! Jeff Kaplan explains the alterations that are being made to characters, right through to upcoming heroes that are due to hit the game.

Game Director Jeff Kaplan is back in front of the camera for another developer update video. This time he wants to walk us through the changes to certain Heroes, developer progress on new game modes and maps, and several alterations to the spectator mode.

When we think about changes to certain heroes, a lot of us probably think that Symmetra could use a little push. Right? Jeff jumps straight into this by discussing what kind of things we should look to expect when her changes hit the PTR, along with a small insight into the recent buffs to Widowmaker which are already out on the test servers.

He also mentions that there is a new hero soon to be launched into the game, along with another who is currently in the making and will arrive some time (early) next year. Jeff says he has confidence in the new heroes and believes that we will find them fun to play.

New maps are something that we would all love to see more of, right? Jeff speaks about the current development of maps that are in development, as well as new game modes that could possibly be coming to our screens. If you want to get a more in-depth chunk of information on today’s Blizzard video update, then check out the video below.

Anybody who has ever watched a professional competitive game of Overwatch will understand the current issues that casters are having with camera angles. Jeff walks us through how they are working on making camera movements smoother, adding bookmarked cameras to ensure that we get to see all the action in the best possible way and having fixed cameras on objective capture points and payload vehicles.

All great announcements, but we are of course most interested in the observer mode changes and the possibility for the new balance changes to kick off a new meta.
