FNATIC's McCree in person aka iddqd answered your questions in this AMA

Looking for some tips & tricks as a new Overwatch player? Want interesting flashbacks on FNATIC's games with iddqd's personal views on heroes an dteamplay? Or you want to know who the most handsome player on their team is? It's all in iddqd's AMA!

FNATIC DPS player iddqd decided to answer your questions about anything iddqd-related in a reddit AMA. For those who have absolutely no idea who iddqd is, the Swede is currently playing as a DPS main on team FNATIC. If you’re talking about iddqd, you’re talking about probably the best McCree player Overwatch has ever seen. Let’s jump in and see some of the top comments!

An interesting question by OW_kappachino regarding how to up your performance as a player. “Question: What's a big mistake you see casual Overwatch players make that, if fixed, can drastically improve their performance? Or for you personally, was there an A-HA moment that drastically improved your own performance?

Iddqd’s answers by mentioning positioning as one of the more important things in Overwatch: “Positioning is probably the one I see the most. People do not realize but being a good Overwatch player requires you to be able to always mind-game your opponent. If you don't have godlike aim, you can get away with positioning half of the time.

Well, in the first days of my career I was known for my aim, but it wasn't untill a bit later where people started to recognize my positioning on e.g; McCree. That's what made me fierce in my own opinion, not necessarely the aim.”

Danharaj asked the next: “How do you review your scrims/matches, both individually and as a team?

Honesty towards yourself and your team as well as helping each other out on problems is to be considered of high importance, by iddqd: “Being very honest about your own play I'd say is the one that makes our reviewing of vods spot-on. There's no shaming or blaming in our team. We always try and be as honest as we possibly can, and try and help eachother out if someone needs it. Individually it's super important to be looking at your own mistakes more than your teams - you're always gonna find topics where you could've done better, and if you're improving, your team will too - automatically. As a team, I'd say its also very important to be aware of situations where positioning, callouts are important. Try and improve together, and you'll see a change of playstyle immediately.

A question about the future of Overwatch by WinstonDabeston: “Do you have any thoughts or opinions about the future of competitive Overwatch? I know the scene is still relatively very new, but do you have expectations on where the scene will be 6 months or a year from now?

For anyone doubting about the future of Overwatch right now, iddqd has this to tell you: “I think the future of Overwatch is not only in good hands, but has a very bright future. As a young e-sport we can already see the numbers in the playerbase sky-rocketing still, and overtaking League in numbers on internetcafés in Korea, which is a big plus for this game. To be successful within e-sport, you need the asian region with you - and I'm pretty sure we're almost there.”

Izbiz95 asked: “what is the one change you want to see the most in overwatch?

A relieving response by iddq that some of the pros support the general thoughts of Overwatch players: “The pause button, and an overhauled and simplified spectator client with perhaps, stats to go with it? That'd be my pick.”

Last question that will be featured here by vinfox: “How much time do you and your team spend discussing the state of the game and heroes, balance, etc.? What are th etop changes you'd like to see?

An expected answer: “Oh, hours every day vinfox. We literally work 6-8 hours/d, weeks on end. It's not untill now that we actually have sheduled free days off, feels weird sitting here not waiting for the scrims to start

For those who love Soldier 76, this will be satisfying to read: “Top changes? I'll tl;dr. Reduce s76 damage falloff to make him viable on long ranges against mccree. Take away one of the three buffs of nanoboost (dont care which). Add sombra, and don't make her invisible hero pls.”

But sadly iddqd isn't part of the Overwatch Dev team and so doesn’t decide on those wanted changes.

Some very interesting questions were mentioned, but a lot more are yet to be answered in iddqd’s AMA! Head over to his AMA here.
