The Competitive Recap: We list what you might have missed (September 16th-22nd)

There are a lot of things to keep track of in the burgeoning Overwatch scene and it's become increasingly difficult to keep up with it all. Never fear as the GosuGamers Competitive Recap is here! We've compiled all the Overwatch news that's fit to print.

Released every week, the Competitive Recap compiles all the tournament and important news that's happened since the last recap. Whether you're interested in big news, or want to stay updated on changes in teams, you can always tune in every Thursday to see if there's anything you've missed.

OGN to launch Overwatch APEX league in early October

Legendary Tournament organizer has announced their first Korean event, featuring English casters, for Overwatch! Join DoA and MonteCristo starting October 7th as they spectate Korean OW alongside you.

Overwatch Open Grand Final tickets are now on sale!

The OW Open is down to its last few rounds. All remaining matches will be played offline at ELEAGUE's studio in Atlanta and you can spectate the matches in person if you buy a ticket. With the $300,000 prizepool and the absolute best teams present, we do think this is an incredible opportunity for OW fans.

Golden Joystick Awards nominate Overwatch in 8 categories

The annual Golden Joystick Awards are back and Overwatch got nominated in a total of 8 categories. Ranging from audio design, to video design, to best PC game; if you want to award the developers then don't forget to vote!

These European teams are left to play the Overwatch World Cup at BlizzCon / Chile, Taiwan set to compete at the Overwatch World Cup

BlizzCon is getting closer and closer, and so is the World Cup for Overwatch because of it. Not all initial countries are still in the running, so be sure to read up on what happened in Europe and Asia in particular.

The Competitive Play Top 500 activates today for Season 2

Blizzard has enabled the Top 500 rankings for Season 2, so now the best of the best will get rewarded with some swag to show off in-game.

Battle.net loses it's name

In an effort to simplify and solidify the Blizzard brand, they have decided to start abandoning the Battle.net name for their overarching system. 

Publicly open custom games coming soon™

Jeff Kaplan restated their desire to make it easier to play Custom Games with funky rulesets, with either your friends or strangers. We might get a lobby browser similar to the one other shooters have sported for years, which should give players yet another mode to enjoy.

New PTR patch – Pausing custom games is here!

A new PTR patch just hit, featuring both significant hero changes and a lot of quality of life updates. The most important one? The ability to pause custom games!

Stream.me's The Gauntlet heads into Overwatch

Stream.me's The Gauntlet series has branched out to include Overwatch. With a $2,000 prizepool on the line, tomorrow (the 23rd of September) will feature the final matches between some of the best up-and-coming teams in EU.

Dino PC set to launch their own UK tournament series

PC manufacturer DInoPC has decided to sponsor their own Overwatch tournament series, featuring a $5,000 prizepool and offline finals at their London HQ. If you are looking to attend the LAN Grand Finals, and are capable of visiting their London HQ, then do check out this article on how to get a free entry ticket.
