Former kings of the beta OWKings disbanded recently, after stumbling a bit in recent times.
While OWKings showed plenty of promise in the months leading up to Overwatch's release, they've certainly stumbled a fair bit recently. After falling flat in the Overwatch Open qualifiers for Europe, the team decided to part ways with their organization. The team consisted of:
Along the way were many substitutions, but constant change was not the best environment for a team to grow in.
I sat down with OWKings's CEO, Gareth "ShameLess" Harry, to ask about both the situation leading up to the split and the future of OWKings as a professional team.
As for another team, we're definitely not ruling it out, we have no intentions of pulling out of the scene and we're always looking for new ways to support it. If the opportunity arises and the stars align, then sure, we'd pick up another team, but for now we're just focusing on the platform and our content.”
