Optical Broadcast charity tournament - Sign ups open

Time for a charity event to spice things up a bit in the Overwatch scene, maybe you even want to participate yourself?

Now that the Overwatch scene is growing, we all hope that new and interesting tournaments will take place. One good idea is of course to do a charity tournament. The German twitch group Optical Broadcast is having a weekend long tournament, where they will raise money via the crowd funding site Matcherino for the German cancer foundation “deutsche Krebshilfe e.V.” Optical Broadcast is not new to charity events, since they have organized and hosted a few other events for games like Hearthstone and Rocket League.

So how will this work?
On Saturday July 30th there will be a tournament for community teams, where it’s all just for fun without any pressure. Bring your friends and battle it out, no matter your previous experience or your expectations. This tournament will be able to fit 32 teams, is single-elimination, and the signup link is below.

But, if you'd rather want to take a more competitive approach and play a bit more serious, then their Sunday tournament might be better for you. On July 31th, they will host a more competitive tournament with a prize pool of $300, with a Double-Elimination Bracket. Both tournaments will be 1 hero limit, and use stopwatch mode. Link for this tournament’s signup is also below.

How can I help?
If you are no stranger to Gosugamers and our weeklies, you have probably also heard about Matcherino. Like mentioned before, it’s a crowd funding site, and they will help out with this tournament. All donations that Optical Broadcast receives above the prize pool of $300 will be collected and go directly to the cancer foundation. If you want to help out already, here is the link to the tournament's own Matcherino page.

What if I don’t want to play, can I watch?
Of course! Stop by and support the event and the community with your presence:

Registration and brackets will all be done on Gosugamers, just grab your team or you friends (or both) and sign up here. The full ruleset, which players should read, can be found here.
