The $25,000 OG Invitational begins this weekend

Some of the best teams in the game will try to stop Cloud9’s three-month long dominance.

To celebrate passing one million followers on Twitch, Overwatch streamer JoshOG is putting a five-digit prize pool up for grabs and has invited the majority of the top rosters in the game. Seven teams have already confirmed their participation, with the last spot to be decided on Friday, June 24th, in a match between two undisclosed yet teams.

One of the main storylines to follow at OG Invitational this weekend will be whether anyone can put a hold on Cloud9’s 32-game win streak. The Americans have been unstoppable since April and have won five gold medals since, including GosuGamers’ Overkill tournament, two Alienware Monthly Melees and Agents Rising. Although it has played fewer games this month, the team easily topped their ONOG Operation Breakout group over LG, Rogue and NG Blue and is the biggest favorites to run away with the OG Invitational trophy as well, especially when top rosters from Europe such as REUNITED and Rogue are notably missing from the list of invites.

The tournament itself will take place from June 25-26 and will have the eight teams split into two double elimination groups, feeding into a Bo7 single elimination playoffs. $15,000 will be won by the best performing team on Sunday. Behind the mic will sit ZP, Slasher, ex-StarCraft pro HuK and JoshOG himself.
