"The Future is Definitely Bright" for Splyce's new Overwatch Division

Fresh off a first place finish at the Alienware Overwatch Open Lan in New York, team Fine, I’ll Go McCree has been acquired by Splyce.

Following a great showing at the Alienware Overwatch Open team Fine I’ll Go McCree has joined professional gaming organization Splyce.  While relatively unknown as a team, Splyce's lineup comes packed with familiar faces, most notably Joshua “Steel” Nissan and Matthew “Clockwork” Dias from CS:SS/CS:GO and TF2 fame.

Roster

  • Bradford "PYYYOUR" Ross - Support
  • Joshua "Steel" Nissan - DPS
  • Matthew "Clockwork" Dias - DPS
  • Matthew "Flame" Rodriguez - Flex
  • Eric "PapaSmurf" Murphy - Tank
  • Jan "Cozen" Lasota - Support
  • Bryan "Blackstar" Johnson - Coach
  • Victor "Victor" Csirip - Analyst
  • Jaesun "jae" Won - Manager

The organization has high hopes for their future and I was able to sit down with team manager Jaesun “jae” Won and Bradfor "PYYYOUR" Ross for their thoughts.

Give me a brief history of the team. How did you guys meet/come together, etc?

jae: "Brad (PYYYOUR) and both Matts (flame and clockwork), Jan (cozen) and Bryan (blackstar), have all known each other for years from TF2. Brad and Josh became friends in closed beta. Eric has a history in competitive TF2 and CS and they started scrimming with him alot in closed beta and Brad brought him on to be the Tank for the team."

PYYYOUR: "Blackstar and I formed a casual team at the start of beta and immediately enjoyed the game from a competitive point of view. When I had the opporunity to examine my options, it was clear I wanted to build a team with him for the long term. We grabbed available players and started playing!"

Why did you guys decide to join up with Splyce?

jae: "The team decided to go with Splyce because it was honestly the best fit for the team. There were several organizations that the team spoke to but when we started talking to Splyce we noticed how professional and upfront they were with everything. Marty, Splyce's owner really impressed us with how much emphasis they place on the player, and the player's well being."

PYYYOUR: "Even though we talked to a number of varyingly promising organizations, Splyce was the organization who treated us the best, goals and desires fell in line with ours, and was ready to put ink on paper. It was interesting how many organizations were dumbfounded when it came to Overwatch and the twitch game."

What do you see for the team's future?

jae: "The future is definitely bright for the team. It has all the ingredients to be one of the top teams in the game. From Brad who was the best medic in TF2, Matt Dias who was the best scout in TF2 to Josh who was one of NA's biggest CSGOs talents. Now that they're signed, they've been focusing alot of their time on scrimming and going over strats with their coach, Bryan (blackstar).

Obviously, the team wants to start playing in as many tournaments as possible and place high. We know they haven't entered too many tournaments yet, but the guys were really taking their time to try to settle into a 6th player. Ruwin, an exceptional TF2 player and streamer, played for the team for awhile and dhak (one of the best Lucio's in OW) also subbed for them for the NYC Alienware Lan tournament but now they were able to bring on Jan, and he's gelled really well with the team.

Outside of placing high in tournaments, the players are all going to stream pretty regularly. Josh and Brad already stream nearly every day and we hope that we can reach alot more viewers now with the signing."

PYYYOUR: "We are going through ups and downs as a team. The goal is to create and keep a core of teammates to compete in the game. While also learning and exploring this game with some cool friends. We'll do our best to keep out the artificial stressors of competing in eSports."

Any final thoughts?

jae: "We are really happy about our future with Splyce, they are a smaller organization say compared to EG or C9, but they've been nothing but supportive. They've really done their best to welcome the team with open arms into their org.

Splyce already has been supporting us through social media, and getting our name out there. Getting us support through their sponsors and other various outlets. The team is very happy with how everything turned out."

PYYYOUR: "We have a very positive team environment and are interested in the same goals. Instead of possibly back channeling and ostracizing a member we usually allow all conflict and disagreement to take place after scrims and in the moment, rather than letting negative feeling turn into resentment and then fester into something toxic. As of now, for my standard of how a team should operate, we are not good. But we will be."

The team's first official appearence will be in the Gosu Gamer's weekly this weekend..
