Player Spotlight: Psychowaffle, cool and collected

In this series from GosuGamers, we are going to introduce you to some of the best players that Overwatch has to offer. A lot of the current top players have competed at a high level in various other games and genres before joining the Overwatch scene. These player profiles aim to provide you with information on their previous competitive history (including team history) as well as a brief overview of the player's Overwatch preferences. Let's have a look at Psychowafflez, the support player for Method.gg.

Gaming History

Unlike a lot of other professional Overwatch players, Jacob “Psychowaffle” Oyer always was more of a pub player, who didn’t take competing in other FPS games seriously. He played in some Call of Duty tournaments and put some effort into League of Legends, making it into the top 600 on the North American ladder. But it wasn’t until Overwatch was released that he decided it was time to take a shot at going pro in an FPS. Even though Psychowaffle never took competing in FPS games very seriously, he enjoyed playing them and felt that it was time to take a break from League of Legends.

Finding a team is never an easy process. It wasn’t until he tried out for 1SHOT, that he found the right team environment. That team environment clearly helped, as 1SHOT had some strong showings in a number of Overwatch tournaments and was recently signed by the professional organization Method.

Quickfire questions:
Favorite character skin: Riverboat McCree
Favorite in-game line: Lucio's “Why are you so angry?”
All time favorite game, besides Overwatch: Super Smash Brothers Melee

As one of the support players for Method, Jacob “Psychowaffle” Oyer’s main focus is helping the rest of the team. He does this not only by his play, but also by his ability to communicate with the rest of his team. He has devoted himself to understanding the game and that understanding comes out during decisive times in a match. He does not have the big, flashy plays, but instead has consistency and the ability to keep a cool head during critical moments.
