Taeja, Mana to DHW playoffs

Two of the DreamHack champions are already through as the first part of day one approaches its end. Other tournament favorites, however, are far away from such easy cruising.

Liquid`Taeja is not looking forward to bury his Valencia gold in bad results not one bit. Despite paired with prominent opponents of highest quality like Stephano, TheSTC, Fraer and Elfi, Taeja made StarCraft look easy, effortless. Dropping just one map in his entire run so far, Liquid's ace is at 4-0 (8-1 in sets) and is sure to make the playoffs and very likely to keep the leadership position in the group unless the BYOC newcomer ends up absolutely perfect.

In the land of PvP next door, DreamHack Summer champion Mana was equally ruthless and survived match-ups volatility, dropping just three games and zero sets in total. Similarly to Taeja, Mana is within a hand's reach of a direct quarterfinal seed.

The same group knows its second graduate as well and that's Germany's WCS champion and aTn protoss Socke. Currently at 3-1, Socke is guaranteed at least top three in the group as even if he loses to the still unknown BYOC player, he holds the direct victory advantage against everybody but Mana.

DHW current standings
Group AGroup B
Korea Taeja4-0Poland Mana4-0
Korea TheSTC2-2Germany Socke3-1
France Stephano2-2Ukraine Bly2-2
Ukraine Fraer2-2Sweden Sase1-3
Finland Elfi0-4Sweden StarNaN0-4

One player's dominance is another one's elimination, however, and day one meant the quick elimination of Elfi and StarNaN, both of whom are at 0-4 without any chance of making it through the group stage. Same is true for SaSe and his 1-3, with not even a flawless victory against the BYOC player able to save his tournament life.
