LGD are number (G-)1

The G-1 playoff phase was initiated and finished this weekend. LGD goes undefeated winning both their semi final vs iG and their final vs DK - without dropping a game.

A fair share amount of people were counting LGD out prior to this weekend. The most buzz featured around the massive incoming final series between Invictus Gaming and DK eSports, the two teams who have been very convincing since the start of the tournament. In the end, LGD manhandled both of these teams, showing everyone that they should never count LGD out.

The G-1 League groupstage started off with LGD playing vs iG, the champions of the International #2. It was a one-sided story where iG basically destroyed LGD. But in the end, LGD came back - stronger than ever. They got their revenge for the opening of Group A when they crushed iG's dreams of winning G-1, using one of iG's signature heroes; Luna. LGD seem fond of her as she was played to perfection by Sylar again in both games of the final vs DK.

What happened to iG?
...is probably the thoughts of several minds right now. In the end, they were also outplayed by Orange in the third place match, only giving them a fourth place at this event after a flawless group stage. They tried strategies out by playing focused around less common heroes such as Axe and Necrolyte, which did not work out this time. If this was just a fluke from their end or something else remains to be seen. Invictus Gaming have another chance of proving themselves at World Cyber Games at the end of the month.

G-1 League
1st - LGD - $28,500 USD
2nd - DK eSports - $9,500 USD
3rd - Orange eSports - $8,000 USD
4th - Invictus Gaming - $6,300 USD

Sylar of LGD told GosuGamers in an interview that he won't retire until he wins a world championship. Lets hope he doesn't mind keep playing even if he wins one, because at this pace that world championship isn't far away. (well, it's still atleast 10 months away). Check below for interviews with Sylar, Ferrari and Burning.

Pre-playoff interviews
iG.Ferrari: "Na`Vi's silver at The International was no surprise."
DK.Burning: "Always be humble in victory, never bitter in defeat."
LGD.Sylar: "I won't retire until I win a world championship!"
